I think you make an excellent point with your comment. I do disagree slightly that Moon advocates anarchy. Although the author does present a good case that the citizens of the moon do fine operating under a general anarchy, it is not their goal. Only the condition they are forced to operate under. As soon as they…
The obvious answer is cost. But remember, Verhoven never read the book. He had a his own agenda. I believe mech suits would undermine the film director’s point of view that infantry soldiers are just food for the meat grinder. Whereas in Heinlein’s novel, each infantry soldier would be more comparable to a fighter…
I’ve read about 20 of Heinlein’s novels, and I feel like the only aspect of Starship Troopers Heinlein regrets is that he didn’t have his main character try and fuck his own mother. A theme that is repeated in a surprising number of his other works.
Taiwan parliament used to do this all the time.
The corkscrew might be easier blindfolded. Thats some scary shit.
Oh yes. In vanilla Rimworld, I can almost always get colonies up to about ten people. Then it inevitably falls apart when I can’t feed everyone or handle the huge raids.
Are you playing with any mods? I love this game. It is maddeningly hard at times, but has so much variety in approach and workable strategies that it keeps drawing me in. I would also like to recommend the Rimworld cartoon series, Under the Rim. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkyZ-ojSIzoudJ9zfkzhY2NMyarGQFt8O
It was always an arbitrary line in the sand that some old broadcasters were holding. I do think it’s a sort of poetic justice that the first player to do it is a closer, because thats another subcategory that those same old timers were devaluing.
Is this another episode of R U Talking U2 to Me?
I only knew a few when I lived in LA (none now that i live in Texas), but I suspect you’re right. They seem to all be finding their own personal system that works for them. There doesn’t seem to be any overriding constant, aside from the no meat part.
This is the correct answer. If you include insects, the answer is “most.”
I bought my first Porsche in 2018. A new 718 Cayman S. I thought it handled much better than the 911. Can’t say I prefer the sound of the turbo 4 over the flat 6, but it is super quick and the PDK transmission is shockingly good. And damn, the Black on Black with 20" black satin wheels looks so good.
“Also, no one ever (probably) died from taking a dump.” What? Lots of people die taking dumps. https://nathanieltapley.com/2011/09/02/the-9-most-famous-people-to-have-died-on-the-toilet/
you make an interesting point about plants being pollinated by insects. But I can confirm that many will not eat honey, which involves no suffering.
I think the old elephants are killed by dental breakdown. When they can no longer grind down the vegetation, they starve and die.
I disagree with your conclusion on 911 vs cayman. Buy the 911 if your main interest is impressing other people. But if you’re looking for the more fun drive? I think the Cayman (specifically the GTS or even the S) is actually more fun. Mid engine makes a huge difference.
“too bad.”
What a dipshit. My new least favorite person in all sports
This is some old school Japanese face saving where the employee is punished and apologizes for the transgressions of the boss. So sad.
