I’m going to continue to not watch this show.

I’ve never been into the show. To me, it always reminded me of when every comic book decided to go “grim and gritty” in the 90s. One most juvenile things to believe is that constant senseless hopelessness and violence are somehow inherently mature. It’s a 13 year old boy’s vision of what adult art should be like.

There are people trying to argue (on Jezebel and iO9) that it exists because the time period and the world of Game of Thrones is a mean hurtful place where women get raped on their wedding night on the daily and we apparently have to show that happening EVERY. I've read up to book 4, and this is exactly what it feels like. There's no real flow anymore. It feels like GRRM had an outline of things he wanted to happen, and is sticking to that outline regardless of flow or applicability. I can't help but feel that after producing the first three novels in a whirlwind of activity, GRRM wrote himself into a ditch and started spinning his wheels, with the new books nothing but endless subplots and "developments" with no real narrative cohesion.

The lighting creates an illusion of gold at the very top of the dress, and a light blue/white for the "white" parts, leading people to believe it's white and gold (I saw it as white and gold a few times). In reality, it's clear that the dress is black and blue.
