Given that you're the first person to explicitly remind us that being poor is not child abuse I'd say your kid will be a-ok.

I totally misread your comment and wrote something really dickish, which I now cannot find. Total internet fail for me on every level right now. Apologies!

Um. I'm a vegetarian, and well aware that the typical Americans get more than enough protein, but you sound like a total asshole by making this about the choice to be a vegetarian instead of children starving. Are you going to launch into the lecture about how cheap it is to buy bulk beans so no kid has an excuse to

ESPN's top story on this says the video "appears" to show Rice hitting Palmer and they both hit each other before she fell back. Unreal. The fantasy bio for Rice says he was released from the team, but doesn't say why. Josh Gordon's bio has paragraphs about his drug issues. Is it the NFL pressuring the network, or the

In the unlikely event the Ravens are telling the truth about not seeing the video, I'm curious as to whether she's seen it.

Yeah, that was almost as terrible as the trolling.

I feel like men without daughters should know this is wrong too. And not because it's their job to "protect" women. It's their job not to be the thing women need protection from.

Oh yes, I see the error of my ways. VIOLENCE FOR EVERYONE! ...

His callousness towards her after the incident was extremely disturbing to me too. I wonder if Palmer had seen this video? I was actually surprised at the attitude of the security guard too. Even if he initially suspected she was unconscious due to alcohol intake rather than being the victim of assault he should have

I pray that you always stay in the grays. Jesus.

I used to scrape off the sides of the bag and eat it. So. nasty. Now I pop the popcorn on the stove. Of course....I pop it in coconut oil and salt it liberally. Can't change who we are.

I only use Twitter through the app on my smartphone. My podcasts and news sources are mostly apps on my smartphone too. Perhaps the FB algorithms are becoming less "useful" as people rely more on apps.

My FB trending list: 1) Taylor Swift; 2) Iraq; 3) Adrienne Palicki; 4) Todd Bertuzzi; 5) Ice Bucket Challenge; 6) Jaycee Chan; 7) Brazil National Football Team; 8) Steve Ballmer; 9) Rick Perry; 10) Pope Francis.

I think you and OneBanana both have good points. Shortly after Mike Brown was shot, I posted a couple things to FB, including a New Yorker article. I got zero likes, and didn't see anyone else posting. I really didn't want to be popping up on people's feeds as the only person posting tear gas photos in a sea of baby

I show "Taylor Swift" and "Jaycee Chan" trending right now. "Iraq" and maybe "Steve Ballmer" are the only heavier/loftier/whatever terms that are trending.

I think FB has recently started burying controversial breaking news by actively tweaking their algorithms to show older posts when something like #Ferguson happens. I don't think I'm seeing "why I don't give my kid juice" posts from two days ago just because I liked some damn baby photo one time. (I knew better!!)

Have you checked out Twitter recently? Social media is more facile and responsive to breaking events. And alongside on-the-ground updates are links to articles from venerable newsy publications. Are you getting your breaking news from CNN or something?

It's a Midsummers' night party. The one in the middle is really fantastical and pretty. And she looks awesome. Also, I'd managed to forget "Crystal Hefner" was a thing. :(

Problem is catchy and I loved Break Free the more times I listened to it, so I'm relatively excited. Hate this picture though.

Wow, your message of "goodwill" and "empowerment" is ringing loud and clear here.
