This proves two things rather simply and clearly

Supporting the ‘e-sports’ side of their games sure, but Tekken has mainstream appeal and gets lots of support as a game (and makes Namco a good amount of cash). Much like NRS they will continue to make money off of their large audience and don’t really need to prop up a competitive scene on their own to keep intrest…
I love the idea that you can get away with anything as long as you stop once you’ve been called out for it.
I am absolutely with you here. I’ve never been a big fan of the idea that if you have a smaller audience you’d make more by bleeding them dry in every way you can. I would almost certainly love these games if I got them but I’d ultimately regret the decision at the asking price.
Two quick thoughts
Having an opinion but not forcing that opinion on others when you feel it’s not reasonable/acceptable to do so is almost the definition of maturity.
I’m absolutely with you in the whole ‘Oh yay, mobile game’ thing but the absolute last thing I think of when I think of Diablo 3 is ‘precision and care’. D3 isn’t a bad game but it’s a game you can play while you’re doing just about anything else and still do pretty well in. There is a point super far into the endgame…
I have 2 PCs, a PS4, and and Xbox One. I normally hit my 1TB limit within 10 days /if/ I’m trying really hard not to and if I’m acting like I don’t have a limit (which I didn’t a few months ago) I can easily go thru 6-10TB of data a month just thru casual use and keeping my games updated.
(I replied to myself in the wrong thread ><)
I get that I’m getting /way/ too far into the weeds here and taking a lot of meaning out of a few words. Let me just preface it with that, this has gotten way more in depth than it was clearly ever intended to.
You are not sitting on the sidelines by not actively shelling out money or time.
As stated in my initial response, my comments are based on the sole quote listed for this article. I haven’t watched the video, as the sole quote that’s supposed to ‘sell me on it’ only serves to frustrate me and I’m finding it hard to stay sane if I indulge my anger on the internet.
To follow up that point, why should it be on their community to self police for free then?
When you phrase it appropriately it sounds a lot less dickish, yes.
I’ll agree with that last part of that but the idea of ‘If you want to be an ally give me money or free labor’ is an shitty thing to say.
Man what a terrible quote. Give us money or do some of our work for us (moderate) for free.
This seems to make the most sense given how they tried to completely deny the campaign ever existed.
This is a blanket statement that is way more often wrong than it is right.
Why ruin just one franchise when you can ruin two!
