Contracts don't make them immune to legal action. It just makes things more complicated
They really should be taken to court for this. Licenses expiring is a common thing in digital distribution. The solution is to pull the licensed content from the store, not user libraries. That’s been the standard practice for games, I don’t see why it should be any different for movies or TV shows.
But if you’re just selling on Steam, distributing something digitally is for all intents and purposes a big fat zero in the expenses column.
Your brick and mortar retailer took a cut, Steam takes a cut, that’s more or a less a wash, but all the upfront costs before you get your plastic on the shelf with retail don’t…
I think it’s a bit naïve to assume that DLC, MTX, etc, wouldn’t exist if the MSRP for AAA games had been raised to $70 much sooner. The F2P monetization model exists because even $60 was too high a bar for most consumers. MTX was an inevitability.
I’ve got no problem paying more for games if the publishers would commit to that money going directly to higher wages for the developers.
While I’m bummed to see any game go out of print, the silver lining here is a lot of the games mentioned are still available in some form on other platforms. Many of them already have Xbox One versions that are still available for the time being.
I should have clarified; I want LOCAL co-op and the current LAN party setup still requires an Internet connection... for reasons?... and a PC to act as the host. I want what Halo and Halo II had, where all you needed was a bunch of Xboxes.
Without co-op and local LAN parties, I reject the idea that any Halo could feel like a franchise peak. Yes, I’m old. Yes, I’m grumpy.
Emolga was just another in the long line of new electric rodent Pokemon that are introduced in each game. They’re not meant to replace Pikachu but they are each essentially that Pokedex’s take on Pikachu.
No, I don’t think so. From what I recall, the plan was to treat it as a “soft reboot” in that you would only see new Unova-region Pokemon until you beat the Elite Four. Once that happened, Pokemon from other regions appeared in the game. It seems unlikely that they were ever seriously planning on phasing out Pikachu.
I don’t want GameStop to turn around, I want them to go away. If your business can’t succeed without exploiting your workers then your business does not deserve to succeed.
Even in the worst possible light. Even if we assume this guy broke in someplace and stole those cards... you don’t get to just send thugs to go shake someone down. Not thugs without badges and a warrant at least. There are procedures for this sort of thing, and people who’s job it is (ostensibly) to deal with it. You…
why is “play stupid games win stupid prizes” the de facto phrase of every braindead bootlicker
They hired private investigators because they had no legal standing and the police would have told them to pound sand.
So his wife in tears isn’t harmful? So you’re find if I show up and reduce your loved ones to tears over nothing?
The YouTuber did nothing illegal. If you are mailed a product you did not order, you get to legally keep it, doesn’t matter if it was a mistake and it matters even less if it has a street date on it. Street dates are an agreement with a retailer and manufacturer and has no bearing upon a random person who gets it…
That he didn’t do anything illegal seems to be lost on a few people here.
Sending a bunch of big intimidating armed men is still intimidation and assault, even if he acts polite while threatening you.
They're talking about someone from WotC being polite and apologetic, not the Pinkerton agent.
