That’s what they do, you have a boom before a bust. When markets rise suddenly for no real reason, they will often rather dramatically self correct.

I tend to agree with you. Here in Canada, the centre has won the most elections over my lifetime with left and right taking just under their share of the relative vote. (Note that there’s a bit of a debate here for how system skews the math.) Then, about a decade ago, right of centre united with far right. The centre,…
My grandfather was an immigrant and faced a lot of racism because of it. He served his country as a spy for his previous home, and did a lot of gross stuff in the name of a country that wouldn’t fully accept him until he was in his sixties. (He was never allowed to fly a plane, which continues to be his biggest sorrow…
It makes more sense to be used for having a breakdown. It used to be shorthand for “too many drugs”, so this is new for me.
So Trump is already starting to “appoint” favored media to which he’ll grant his press releases and puff pieces? Fine. This might just be the wakeup call that the media needs. For too long, the press has relied on releases and “media kits” to cover news and culture. As a PR flak, I’ve seen entire passages from my…
I thought it was only us whiny millennials who wanted participation trophies!?!?! That’s what all the old assholes keep screaming about!
I can’t imagine the cat’s whole life being spent with her then al of the sudden kitty gets dumped. My niece married a nice guy who had a cat for ages who is a mean BIG kitty that bites/scratches no matter what. They got married, niece tried to get help for the cat, but then two sweet human babies came. Kitty now has…
Welfare checks (as they are commonly called) are not uncommon. If a person expressed hurting themselves, engaging in dangerous/self-harm behaviors or taking suicidal actions like looking for a gun for the purpose to shoot themselves, then a person can be hospitalized for up to 72 hours involuntarily to ensure they…
It means that someone near him thought he was a physical danger to himself or others. Involuntary psychiatric holds are a thing. This is very sad and very serious, but it’s probably not Jay calling in the illuminati.
When people say they decided to give away a pet because they’re having a baby and the pet will now be too much work I always want to respond, “Right, that’s exactly why I gave away my toddler when we found out we were pregnant again”
I remember learning in like 6th grade Government that freedom of speech meant the right to criticize even the President and not be locked up for it. I’m sure some booed, some cheered, some kept quiet, and some got paid to write about their feelings about it. As is the American way. God bless this land.
Plenty of us peasants do too. Some people are hell to sleep with.
Maybe that’s at least one thing you guys can get Trump to legalize that might be worthwhile.
Even more so when it’s not the governments money that is being spent. The Queen in return for being queen helps support the country with the income from her estates. If Britain were to become a Republic taxes would have to go up as you’d lose money in the deal.
It’s not like Buckingham Palace would be torn down if there wasn’t a monarchy. It would still be an important tourist attraction. France spends millions on the Palace of Versailles because it’s a historic landmark and important tourist attraction.
It is really, really freaking annoying how many people are using this as an example of ‘crazy government misspending.’ Yes, they should damn well get their heads out of their arises and stop ‘austerity’. But they should also stop our historic landmarks from catching fire!
Even if they did abolish the monarchy, they would probably want to keep up Buckingham Palace. It brings in tons of tourism dollars.
Haha that’s the area that strikes me the most as well.
What I find even more interesting is how much Ronan is picking up Frank’s wrinkle lines. They aging the same exact way. Look at the forehead. It’s the same two pronounced lines. Those genes are strong.
- Ronan Farrow continues to look like the lovechild of Mia Farrow and Frank Sinatra. I know everyone knows, but I still have to say so!
