Whoa! As a cheap bastard, you will be disturbed to hear that the ultimate Sunbeam T-9 toaster is available for $1,450 at 1st Dibs.

Yes.  I posted links elsewhere in the comments you can look for yourself.

If I could ride a bike safely where I lived, I would likely make a similar mistake. I have a long history of not exercising. I’ll get out of the routine, I’ll injure myself, or mainly just get bored and end up on the couch washing down Cheetos with Reese’s Cups and beer.

I bought a cheapo 10 speed road bike in an effort to get fit (250 lb+ here) because I didn’t want to break the bank on something I might not stick with.

but anyplace “properly Southern” where a plate of BBQ has enough weight to collapse the frame of Walmart bike, even before Junior eats it, isn’t a bike friendly spot.

I’ve been buying and selling $300 kids’ bikes for my kids.

26er tubes were like gold!

“decent used Trek, Specialized, or Cannondale.”

When we first moved to the US, my parents were blown away by how cheap consumer goods were. Then our brand-new Kmart toaster crapped out after two weeks.

I’ve run into this issue when it comes to electronics. Watching someone explain how to fix a problem with something that is like $50 and they are using a several pieces of test gear to diagnosis the issue. A lot of that test gear either costs hundreds a piece or he made some of it using a home setup that costs a lot

Are you operating on the assumption that a “25 year old” bike won’t meet finalformminivan’s needs?

There aren’t any. Unless you can find one of these bikes they’re advocating for used. That’s the problem the reliable ones are expensive and require maintenance. The cheap ones are cheap and can’t be maintained really.

I was actually gonna buy a walmart bike this weekend to ride around with the kids. So what are my other options if I don’t want to spend a butt load of money?

and sometimes just to test the limits of what I am the bikes were capable of. Think I can make it through that wooden fence? Maybe, only one way to find out! #fullsend

Oh no! Kids are going to be forced to not break and learn how to fix their bikes??? The horror!

I kept pushing him and the best he could come up with was that it paid for the beautiful showroom and amenities.

No, you’re talking about the words of a 7 year old kid who went for a jay ride and wasn’t charged with a crime because HE WAS SEVEN YEARS OLD

Again, we’re talking about a literal child.

Ah yes, the height of intellectual discourse: “Yeah but I heard a kid say a thing”

It’s a reverse 911. Why do the Germans love this bad design so much and how can they con people into buying them?
