Exactly this. I noted this in another reply but a friend who used the full paternity leave at his firm, which was a generous 8 weeks, was basically told it was more of an optics thing and no fathers actually used that amount. ‘Lack of billable’ hours was sited as a reason for him getting passed over for promotion that

I know a guy who works for a place like that and ended up using the full 8 weeks as a way to extend their baby’s time at home before having to go to daycare (his wife’s workplace didn’t have a great maternity policy). When he got back he was basically told it was unprecedented for father’s to take the full time, and

My workplace has 2 weeks paid paternity plus a generous vacation policy. I was able to take nearly a month off within the first 6 months after the birth of both my kids. I did it 99% for myself / family, but also to establish a precedent on my team as the head of the group had made multiple comments about only taking

They also have Baja Blast. This should not be overlooked.

My wife had a good approach to this, I think, although it may not work for everyone. She wanted to take my last name, because although it’s not actually ‘goodtimes’ it is almost as cool, but wanted to keep her last name going (she’s one of three girls) without having to hyphenate. Luckily, her middle name was almost

The backstreet boys cold open alone should have earned them another season.

It definitely seems like there’s a style-guide out there at GMG that targets certain artists. I’m not an every day visitor to Jez and rarely comment here, but it seems like everytime I do there’s another post shitting on Megan Trainor. I wonder if it’s the Nantucket thing? Which to me is funny because I’m pretty sure

20 year-olds not voting in mid-term elections aside, I agree that those statements don’t paint a picture of enlightenment... but are we applying that standard across all artists evenly?

Interesting - I just googled the lyrics because I have a habit of tuning out the words in pop songs... and wow. It reads like it was written by a non-native english speaker but otherwise I don’t see anything attacking anyone. Genuinely seemed body positive, other than maybe defining things in terms of what ‘boys like’

Is it me or does she get a disproportionate amount of vitriol for what sounds like middle of the road top 40 music? The genre itself isn’t really for me, but as near as I can tell all of her work that’s gotten radio play merits the sort of ‘meh’ reaction described above. Is there something else about her specifically

Yeah, and probably more to this or why not lie your way out of it? If this was a totally isolated incident I assume you could get away with a ‘I thought it was mine’, ‘I thought it was someone elses’s and I was returning it but left it in my car’.......

Make jokes now, but let’s see how funny this all is on Monday when you won’t be able to read 850 words on breaches of Acela quiet car etiquette.

I have to say I’m kind of bummed to see him go. I read MMQB regularly, and Drew, then Matt Ufford’s, FJM style takedown of MMQB religiously. He was long-winded and corny, and I don’t think he did enough with the access that he had over the years. But at the same time he seemed to do a lot to elevate new writers

Yes

Please please please let Aidy Bryant speak the line, “YOUR MOM’S A DISNEY FILM PERHAPS”

I’m a Patriots and Penguins fan (I’m the worst!). I can assure you that analogy is very much appropriate.

Perfect timing - our youngest is outgrowing her infant seat and needs an upgrade. Has anyone tried this? I don’t think target sells the one we’d be trading in, BUT they definitely have the one we’d be buying.

Yes, we’ve slowly made progress over the last 8-9 months. She was diagnosed at 3 so I’m thankful we caught it early as well. The worry and guilt my wife and experienced during the first few months of the GF diet resulted in us letting our daughter get away with being really picky about eating, because, hey, at least

We had the same issue with our 3 y/o that has celiac - her G/I doc attributed it in part to the amount of rice / rice flour that goes into the gluten free foods among other things. The Miralax was extremely helpful and we give her a very, very low dose of it (in her milk) on a daily basis and have had few issues

You should absolutely tell him that if he has Celiac he should not be ordering dominos. They simply offer a gluten free crust but don’t observe any cross-contamination procedures. I’m pretty sure they specifically say on their website that their GF option is not for anyone w/ Celiac.
