I made it to regionals in 7th grade (winner goes to DC to appear on the ESPN-televised Nationals!) and ended up finishing in 3rd. Got the word monstrosity and was so stoked to get such an easy word that late in the competition that I spelled too rapidly! “M-O-N-T DAMMIT”

I had a friend who worked at Suncoast. He’d have one of my other friends come in, hand him a trash bag full of DVD’s, and let him walk out. When the buzzer went off he’d just yell “You’re all set!” and then sell the DVDs to all his friends for like 3/$10, splitting the profits with the “thief.” Got some good movies…
