Which only existed to prop up the abortive real money auction house. Funny how the console versions, which came later, didn’t require an online connection.

“However, there’s more that is locked away from offline players including the ability to unlock weapons, items, outfits, and earn new starting locations... playing offline also means players won’t be able to complete in-game challenges or earn experience to level up your Mastery Rank for each map.

I’ll grant you sim city (did that game just kill the franchise?) but it had a purpose I think in Diablo 3 which was preventing people from just editing their save files to give themselves whatever gear they want.

The online features like “unlocking the different starts and gear for the offline levels”? The REGULAR progression of the game is all tied to the online, you seriously are being ridiculous here. Imagine if Hades prevented you from using anything but the unleveled Sword and mirror if you played it offline.

The decision to tie progression into the live service wasn’t on GOG, but the latter arguably should have disqualified it while the dependency was in place.

Which is often used as a pretext for DRM in all but name. Just look at Sim City, or Diablo 3.

I don’t blame it on both parties, the developers/publishers or the customers, I blame it on GOG.

It is not normal to have to wait two or more years to buy a next gen console without extra effort or money. Sure, there’s a pandemic causing a lot of problems everywhere, but there’s also people taking advantage of that and making things much worse.

So maybe give people who are upset about this a little slack instead

US retailers aren’t taking pre-orders, unfortunately. They’re all first come, first served. People point out that the retailers are getting the same money whether they sell to scalpers or regular customers, so there’s no incentive for them to take console pre-orders. And sure, that’s true. But I would argue that

The reason I went in so hard to get a PS5 is that my PS4 literally is broken and I didn’t wanna buy a whole new one that’d be obsolete so soon.

“You all have phones don't you?"

I have no idea how this hasn’t been a thing from the beginning. I would have gladly given whatever store my money last November even if it took months to take delivery. Where is the harm in doing actual preorders? They get the money now and I get to relax a little instead of scouring social media accounts hoping for

They did have a police pursuit system but disabled it with the day one patch because, like you said, it was super janky and unpolished. There are actually videos showing it in an unpatched version of the game. CP really needed another year of polish and the last-gen versions should have been canceled entirely. The

I mean, in many cases the argument could be made that they do since Humans are generally descended from those Gods in question (and in some cases are literally just Humans themselves ascended to the position).

No kidding. TK Carter, a black man, was also the original voice of Kratos. Both black voice actors, black motion capture, seems pretty consistent with the character and they definitely want to maintain that image.

Agreed. I’m in no way saying she can’t be an engaging character. I have zero issues with her being Black. I just don’t think adding a Black character to your game is especially noteworthy in 2021. Based on North America’s racial makeup they are statistically represented perfectly. The argument can be made that games

People either forget that Kratos is black or try to ignore it. I’ll never forget playing the first game, seeing his skin color and being like “YES! A black person as the main character that’s not player created in a video game!”

I’m a black man who’s tired of people praising representation for representation’s sake without evaluating the merits of a character but I will say this character has real promise.

How much progress is it really when it’s just a bunch of liberal creatives expressing their liberal beliefs in a liberal echo chamber? Do you call it progress when you’re bullshitting with your like-minded friends over a beer about issues you all agree on? We’ve always dominated the entertainment industry. Making

Are we really going to pretend that every new Black character is some kind of grand achievement?!? I would say that the majority of games in 2021 feature Black characters. It’s not particularly new or noteworthy at this point. I keep hearing about how Black people aren’t represented in media but everywhere in media I
