I pretty much immediately thought of Warframe. Their NPCs LOVE masks. I figured CGI faces are just hard to do. Better to just put a bag over everyone’s head and call it a design choice.

It could be argued it’s an aesthetic choice, but it’s also an incredibly easy way to avoid having to animate NPC facial expressions, so...

Every mask = less animation to spend time on and f@#$ up. Simple as that.

Why spend time animating a face and risk repeating the Andromeda fiasco when you can just hide its expressionless uncanny valley state behind a mask?

Ah yes, the masks...one of the many, many, many little things that have zero effect on gameplay but still annoy the shit out of me. It’s all style over substance, as there’s no in-universe reason for them, I have to imagine they did this to significantly cut back on npc facial animations, but they all just looks so…

MGSV is a different type of game. Most people want the old school Splinter Cell and not this action first stuff. If Ubi can show me a game that is like the original 3 games, I’m all for it. I see some RPG looking numbers on enemies or the main character (I almost said Sam lol) holding an automatic weapon, haarrrdd…

I just don’t know if Ubisoft can pull it off though. Going to be filled with a bunch of nonsense that doesn’t fit well with Splinter Cell.
