As someone who has run 10 marathons, I am obligated to salute you on beating me to it. And also mentioning my ultramarathons.

Holy shit, we get it, Deadspin hates this World Cup. Fuck man, I haven’t seen this concerted effort from a publication to ensure the world knows their opinion about something since The Ringer closed shop after GoT ended.*

It’s worth noting that MLB explicitly does not allow video review for those plays.

I’m calling for a VAR review of whether a catapult and a trebuchet are substantively different entities.

Man, these guys really won’t defend anything.

I am 100% in favor of a catapult for officials. May I humbly add that, in sports in which coaches may initiate a video review, if the review upholds the call on the field, the coach who initiated the review also gets catapulted.

I’m okay with them scoring a pile of goals. Celebrating those goals with more than a fist bump after about 5-0 just means you’re a bit of a dick.

I’d think the same if Man City scored 13 against an amateur non league opponent.

It really is how it works.

Have you ever watched hockey before?

That is exactly how hockey works, sir. The second the referees Hand goes up, the team going on a power play will pull their goalie since play is whistled dead if the other team touches the puck and it is 6 on 5 until they do. It literally happened tonight.

Um, you absolutely get to pull your goalie for an extra attacker on a delayed penalty

That’s not how GPS works

I’ve been calling NBC Sports for weeks. They kept showing Hurricanes instead of the goddamn Hartford Whalers games.

This is something you learn when you are 8 years old when playing hockey. Exit the zone before going to the bench. Yes, it is a stupid rule that doesn’t affect the game play. It is the same as turning toward second base after you cross first base playing baseball. In youth hockey, before the 2nd period starts, one of

FWIW--It could *not* have been ruled a major. It’s either 2 minutes or a game misconduct.

It’s worth noting the Whitmore is a former NHL goaltender, not some guy who “never played the game.”

The golden ring of hell.

He’s had 85, 85, and 100 points over the past 3 years and he’s very durable. Whatever we think of his antics, I think it’s reasonable to say there’s a lot of value there. NHL GMs wouldn’t think of him as solely a dirty player.

He breached 100 points this year. It’s not crazy to think at that level he’s a superstar.
