Exactly. IF you want to know what a conservative is guilty of, you simply have to look at what they accuse others of. It’s because they simply cannot fathom that other people may be different than themselves, they assume that everyone is as horrible as they are.

She’s rich and she’s a big donor to politicians.

One, these guys are heroes and much better people than I could ever be in that situation. That there is grace.

You should venture outside your bubble. Go spend some time in the Breitbart comments section and hear the stupidity and ignorance and racism of the alt-right first hand. Breitbart is alt-right central and they’ve made no secret of the fact that their plan is to now set up shop in some European countries and help

I was deported from The States before entering on a tourist visa. A fresh faced 19 year old. Got some prick who decided to deport me and 2 friends. Bullied me in a cell and forced me to sign a confession saying I was looking to work in the states (I wasn’t, I was going on a holiday). Threatened us with a detention

Trump definitely does have an effect. Most Canadians actually did follow the US election pretty closely by watching CNN which pretty much aired loads of Trump footage (and Canada has angry car workers too). Harper and his extra penalty for “barbaric cultural practices” (basically making honor killings more illegal

I think it’s more about. . . how this sentiment is becoming loser and bolder pretty much everywhere and how disturbing it is.

As I have read it the Canadian Constitution has more leniency for state infringement written into it than the US Constitution. Take Section 1 “guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.”

In canada you can only be charged with hate speech if you are advocating harm or death to a group of people based religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. etc. It is perfectly legal to say “I hate _____ group of people” .. so long as you are not advocating for their harm, mistreatment in the eyes of the law, etc.

When the revolt comes, they better remember two words:

We do have stronger hate speech laws, and I’m glad for them because I’m sick of this asshole opinion I see so much of online that words are somehow incapable of causing harm. They can totally cause harm.

You can believe and say whatever the fuck you want in private, here, that’s your right. Public incitement of hatred

Yes, thank you. So many people want think Canada is this peaceful, accepting mecca, but it’s not. We have our own long, ugly history that we’ve yet to reconcile

My wife worked in immigration law for years. They’ve pretty much always been like this believe it or not.

I would wager this sort of civil unrest is a goal of the Trump admin. I haven’t vetted the story but it’s being reported that Bannon has openly talked about intentionally trying to take down “tge state” as we know it. Much easier to facilitate that through fear mongering and civil unrest than direct action by the

This was likely more emboldened by recent events but the groundwork for it was laid down long bwfore trump. Generally speaking while there has been some cases of people saying stupid stuff related to islam here in canada rhwre isnt much of it and 9 of the 10 provinces have not shown any signs of remotely getting pn

Agreed. I heard it at dinner just tonight. There’s a lot of “convert or be killed” rhetoric going on right now. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before there’s a mosque shooting with a death toll in the double digits.

Don’t be too hasty to pin this on Trump and his ilk. Canadians are capable of hatred and bigotry and this mosque has been targeted in the past.

That’s what happens when you enable nazis and white supremacists with unlimited “free speech”.

This is not new.
