The early CJ5's are better looking though; much better balanced front to rear. But I do like the interchangeability that resulted from extending the front fenders to match CJ7 and Scramblers as well as bolt on 4.0 parts.

I agree with your first statement. That said, the fact they have second, third, fourth...lives makes them very special automobile-wise. Most cars go to junkyards long before Jeeps. And thats certainly NOT because they were higher quality; and much more to because they are fantastic platforms.

I’ll take a stab at it. They have little use as a practical vehicle. I feel the same way about UTV’s since they aren’t street legal.

The original intent of the Jeep is to be a utilitarian platform, whether for military use or civilian. And how many of those were “hacked” to fulfill this purpose?

Titled as a 1980 but.....it has various parts from almost every year of the 1976-1986 CJ run plus a significant portion is new. Frame was new from TDK. The tub was a new one from MD Juan. So I guess it averages out to a 1995?
