“ ‘It’s’ better than flying”
Not exactly. He was the only character that seemed fully aware of the constant state of peril the crew of the Jupiter 2 lived in every second of every day, and he wasn’t shy about expressing it. He also often threatened to beat Smith to death and/or throw him out an airlock, which made him seem like a killjoy since…
In the early days of the Sci-Fi Channel there was a Lost In Space retrospective, and in one of the interviews Mark Goddard said his favorite episode was “The Anti-Matter Man” because it let him really cut loose as an actor. In that episode he plays Major Don West and an evil Major Don West from a hellish anti-matter…
“If I can help some kid go through a tough time in his life, that’s what I want to do.”
It would pass everything.
Yes, when I have a flat tire, it’s always with a pre-production car that I abandon and cover with a tarp.
I’ve seen most of these movies and read all of the stories they were based on. The Corman movies are a hoot, mostly because of Vincent Price and the casts around him. The wizard duel in The Raven is particularly entertaining. It’s very Dungeons & Dragons.
Surprised the article didn’t call out Gerald’s Game, which was a tremendous adaptation of a novel I had considered unfilmable since so much goes on in the trapped wife’s head.
Tempted by Carla Gugino (of course)
So glad for the “Midnight Mass” love in this review - extraordinary is definitely the right word. I’m a bit disappointed to hear the style employed in “Usher” - killing of the week and oversexed. I know it won’t be boring, but if the heart is missing, Flanagan has done himself a disservice which such great source…
Costuming is a huge part of what can make film and TV work. I honestly think that the biggest boon to the Golden Age of superhero media (pretty much from Spider-Man onwards) was creating costumes that didn’t look like shit. The digital effects could be sub-par, the writing could be cheesy, but as long as the costumes…
You tend not to think about it, but what she and coworkers do is incredibly important. And as a fan of those shows, I’d say she was very good at it.
She also altered her own wedding dress for the episode "Shindig" (which she talks about in the commentary, which I highly recommend).
RIP to a true talent
So she’s the one who saved Whedon a ton of money by making the Alliance armour out of spare “Starship Troopers” gear? And more importantly, gave River’s dresses juuuust the right amount of floatiness to subtly suggest crazy?
What an absolute shame. Say what you will about the Star Wars shows, the costume design has been wonderful and obviously designed by somebody who loved the property.
Maybe the most moving scene of the whole show for me is where Frasier has spent the whole episode struggling to get across town to accept a hugely prestigious award. And when he finally is about to make it on time by the skin of his teeth, his cab driver starts talking about the serious mental issues he’s been going…
The Conners is about to head into season six, after 10 seasons of Roseanne, so it’s not impossible.
We came for the tossed salads. We stayed for the scrambled eggs.
