That’s awful she went through this. I applaud her coming forward.

Collins actually said in her speech that Kavanaugh would make SCOTUS less partisan!
“After Kavanaugh’s impassioned Clinton conspiracy vendetta rant, I wonder if“fairness” toward liberals, feminists, women, or anyone else who came out against him will be in jeopardy.”
He threw a temper tantrum last week and the Republicans watched and said, “Yeah! That’s what we need more of in the highest court of the nation!”
““He has been an exemplary public servant, judge, teacher, coach, husband, and father,”
“we must always remember it is when passions are most inflamed that fairness is most in jeopardy.”
Yes, exactly!!! Even setting all the allegations aside - his vile and vitriolic, partisan rant showed him unsuitable for a lifetime appointment to the highest court in our land.
in a 43-minute speech, announced she will vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh
As for the future of abortion rights, Collins argued that Kavanaugh promised her that he would respect Roe v. Wade as settled precedent.
Manchin will not be the deciding vote. He will either vote with Flake or Collins and Murkowski against Kavanaugh, or Murkowski and him will switch party lines tomorrow, just like they have done today.
Apart from the corpse of Robert Byrd and Manchin, I don’t think any other dem would have a legit chance of winning in WV anyways
Oh I agree. That’s why I said that I thought Manchin is taking advantage of this situation even if I don’t really think that about Murkowski. People complain a lot about Manchin (and I get it, I’m furious with him right now too) but he rarely, if ever, bails when the vote is so close his vote in the deciding factor.
Lol...the guy you're responding to thinks that the way to stick it to moderate politicians, is to vote for whichever bridgetroll the GOP puts up in FREAKING WEST VIRGINIA 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I’m not as sold on this theory as others are. Murkowski doesn’t need Manchin as a cover to vote no. Since she won her Senate seat on a freaking write-in campaign (a pretty baller accomplishment since votes that misspelled her name were in danger of being disqualified, and the Murkowski campaign was blocked from…
I really think it’s just a matter of answering to your own constituency. The Native American coalition got her elected; remember, she lost the Republican primary and was re-elected to the Senate as a write-in candidate. She doesn’t owe the Republican Party jack-shit. But she does owe the Native American Federation,…
To the group, thoughts on the rumor that she made a deal with Manchin, he votes yes, she votes no? Makes perfect cynical political sense. Also, much as I hate to say, I think politically, democrats are better of if he gets confirmed tomorrow, GOP base gets their white boy confirmed, and Democratic enthusiasm builds…
As much as I agree the fact remains that in order for January 2019 to begin with Majority Leader Schumer and Democrats in charge of every Senate committee (and all the ensuing powers), Joe Manchin needs to win in West Virginia. The 2018 primaries are long over, so it’s too late to replace him.
If you’re not Alaskan, please stop calling her! I’ve been trying all morning to get through to her office to thank her and the phone lines are busy and mailboxes are full. Really, if you’re not a constituent, her office isn’t very interested in what you have to say.
Possibly, but Murkowski doesn’t have to really worry about ruffling feathers. She’s already proven that she doesn’t need the party’s support OR her party’s base to win elections in Alaska. She’s basically the Joe Lieberman of the Republican Party. She’s got a license to tell McConnell to go fuck himself and there’s…
