Right? I got the impression that a lot of these guys saw Holmes as the daughter that they never had, and didn’t want to see anything that would blemish her in their eyes.

I think if you knew in advance that someone was going to murder you, you would try to avoid them if you could — even if they don’t use eye drops.
I think it’s always been this way. It’s easy to believe something horrific about someone that you already despise — indeed, in some cases people can take glee in that. It’s much harder to accept that about someone you admire or — worse — someone you personally love. That’s why I kind of roll my eyes when people here…
Oh yeah I agree with that’s he’s saying. I’m just bothered by the weirdly passive tone he’s taking, as if Congress’s dysfunction and the public’s resulting reliance on the judiciary is something that sort of happened without anyone’s decision.
Pretty much. Many legal scholars will tell you that Roe has been overturned by Planned Parenthood. But there are plenty of ways to undermine abortion rights without explicitly contradicting Roe or Planned Parenthood — typically by passing laws that have the effect of closing clinics or making them too difficult to…
The funny part of that statement is that Ben Sasse is himself a member of Congress. What is he doing to fix the dysfunction?
I agree. While she makes a good point, it’s sort of frustrating that generations of female artists and creators get erased or overloooked even by other women like this. I mean, if we’re not even willing to remember that they existed then whats even the point?
Isn’t ICE T already on SVU?
It’s even less plausible than Ambien.
ALso a great point. Physical violence is never an appropriate reaction to cheating.
My theory — they need to justify their decision to stay with the partner who cheated on them. They sublimate their. anger at the partner by shifting all of it onto the third party, who they have no emotional investment in. That’s not a good reason, but it makes sense to me.
It says a lot about how fucked up politics is that:
I think Trump would have either dumped the stories all at once to get them out of the way or selectively leaked them to distract from whatever horrible vote or policy that he wants to distract from. There’s isn’t anything that Trump can do to lower his support levels below around 40%, so he does not have a real need…
Yeah but to be fair, Griffin disrespected Donald Trump, one of the most popular and well regarded figures in American history. She crossed an unforgivable line, and in an industry as staid and refined as comedy I’m not sure that there’s a comeback for that. Louis CK’s indiscretions took place in private, and arguably…
What did (squints) Sabine Hauldepin do to you?
In Hollywood, many 15 year olds are played by actors in their 20s, making it harder to do these types of stories. If the teenage characters all look like they are 22 it’s hard to make it obvious when one of them is actually supposed to be a 15 year old played by a 22 year old pretending to be 21, or whatever.
For the second one — she had a condition that COULD lead to cancer? He couldn’t even wait until she actually did have cancer? Couldn’t even risk it?
Genghis Khan was religiously tolerant.
Exactly. It’s really important to remember that these things were not considered serious crimes until very recently. The idea that children and women have rights is a concept that is only intermittently accepted.
It’s unnerving how much of Trump’s policy is shaped directly and indirectly by InfoWars, Breitbart, and residue scraped off of certain subreddits. That South African tweet was straight out of those cesspools. No way Trump came up with that shit on his own.
