Thanks, that makes sense haha

Ian and Nia are out, but Ain and Ina are still in.
Wait, she put Ryan Sweeting’s name on the credits of the show? How? Why? He had nothing to do with the show, right?
I think There’s a very dark backstory to a lot of these off the wall defenses of bizarre behavior.
District court cases aren’t precedent, and there’s nothing in the ruling that would be applicable to unrelated cases. If someone else actually did commit plagiarism or domestic abuse, they couldn’t point to this case and expect the same outcome. The trial court was ruling based on the facts specific to this lawsuit.
I agree, that seems like a pretty huge reach. If she had plagiarized or recycled parts of his work that would in no way denigrate all women’s writing or lend credence to misogynistic ideas about female writers. Implying as much requires making some fairly large leaps in logic IMHO.
Are you implying that Fyre Festival’s organizers would be careless and negligent enough to not have a paid-up liability insurance policy??
It seems like a fait accompli then. They can either give in now or erode their power and give in a few months from now. Is there a solution where AFD doesn’t get everything it could want?
If they block this, what are the odds that Germany will have new elections and the far right will have even more seats and control?
It’ll definitely be tougher. They can’t start blaming Asian American students directly without messing with the current litigation over Harvard, so we probably won’t see them being scapegoated (again!) until a few years into the future. I suspect they’ll move onto some or all of the following groups:
Don’t forget to spread the wealth around. Keep an eye on Joes Manchin, Donnelly, and Heidi Heitkamp..
I have to admit, the sheer amount of flop sweat and panic she’s inducing in so many people is pretty cheering. None of her ideas are actually that radical in 2018; even the abolish ICE thing is gaining ground, and she is not the first person calling herself a Democratic socialist in Congress.
I guess I could say, I don’t think we should expect this seat to remain vacant until January. Mitch McConnell was able to hold the other seat open because he controlled the calendar and could just refuse to schedule a vote even if a majority of Senators would have approved Garland. There’s nothing like that available…
I don’t think we should rely on Susan on this issue. Even if she’s 100% sincere and follows through on that, Trump’s nominee can destroy abortion rights in this country without doing anything to either Roe or Planned Parenthood. (Indeed, Planned Parenthood itself was a partial reversal of Roe to begin with, weakening…
That’s my point though. A federal ban on abortion is unlikely. But states gradually chipping away at abortion rights is very likely — it’s happening already, even before Kennedy resigned. We need to start paying attention to state laws since that’s where a lot of the fuckery happens oh so many issues — ranging from…
Murkowski at least has already been through that scenario. She lost the Republican primary to some ultraconservative whackjob Tea Partier in 2010, but enough people wrote in her name on the ballots (correctly) that she won the general election anyway. I don’t think she’s afraid of the far right. What can they do to…
I honestly don’t think they have the votes to ban abortion nationwide. There are at least two GOP senators who reliably vote against abortion ban legislation. The real problem I think is that states will start enacting laws that technically aren’t abortion bans but will make it harder/impossible for clinics to stay…
TBH I don’t think a lot of those people actually saw women’s rights as a priority. I’m not saying that they opposed abortion rights, but for them it was way, way down the list of issues that voters should be animated by. That’s why a lot of them were unable or unwilling to distinguish between Clinton and Trump; they…
According to Melendez, he called the White House switchboard and made it through two call screens before Jared Kushner called him from Air Force One. Kushner transferred the podcast host to the president. Trump spoke to Melendez about a range of topics, including immigration, the North Dakota Senate race, and his…
He could have said nothing. It would still be cowardly, but at least it wouldn’t be a shot across the bow of a mass shooting survivor. Isn’t this guy supposed to be a slick politician?
