Mechanically sound but electrically very iffy? Fiat has owned Alfa since the early 90s, and the quality had gone way up once they took over. My 155 is miles ahead of a 75/Milano in build quality. Also, with the Busso V6, they are mechanically reliable.

Get a Maser with the 4.2-4.7 and a manual/automatic. If you avoid the cambiocorsa, they are reliable cars.

Not offering a manual in a Mini JCW is like not offering a V8 in a Mustang. It is just not done and an insult to the brand faithful. I had two R53 JCWs, the best generation of Mini. Both were a joy to drive but were constantly broken. Glad I am done with the brand.
