Should be mandatory in all snowbelt areas honestly.
Should be mandatory in all snowbelt areas honestly.
Snow tires do just fine in dry, cold weather because they are still pliable and grippy. All seasons are hard as hockey pucks when it gets really, really cold (Canada cold). When it is dry pavement, you don’t need maximum grip anyways because...it is dry and clear pavement. It is when it is slushy, snowy, icy pavement…
good - heavy wheels will bite through the snow and put the power down better than light little wheels
All Seasons are not good enough. Had some snow the other day, on top of a freeze. Even in the Subaru with all seasons, the car would not go up a gentle hill, would even roll backwards. Tried the same hill the next day with winters, not a problem as if the ice wasn’t even there.
This is obvious, but you will still get some, even enthusiasts who should know better, who will argue that all-seasons and AWD is enough.
Because Jag actually can do “be a company.” Tesla can’t.
Cool. My Saab has been on K&N filters for 8 years, and recently when the head was off my mech noted that the engine was spotless. It also performs flawlessly at 250,000kms.
Never noticed this before, but it looks like it was rear ended.
Of course you would Rob :P
Maserati needs to compete against Aston and Bentley etc. in the grand tourer and luxury market. Ferrari can be the tire smoking sports car. Let Alfa fight BMW.
This exactly. It is easy to have the 3 marques in 3 distinct arenas to compete. Ferrari, then Maserati, then Alfa Romeo.
Ugly. CP.
Because the Corolla is for people who don’t want to think about their car, they just want it to work. That is it. For Corolla enthusiasts, the same is true - they repeatedly harp on the reliability and simplicity of the car. Not thinking about your car, or caring about it whatsoever = zombie driver. Jeremy Clarkson…
Calling me an asshole? I like different cars. I care about the drive. That makes me an asshole? Wow, you have issues you need to resolve...and need to stop going onto a site that is ALL ABOUT CAR ENTHUSIASTS.
I agree most Americans are not shopping for something fun. They are zombie drivers and do not care about actually driving at all, just the features they get along the way and how economical it will be (purchase price, fuel economy, resale value) - all the bells and whistles! The Corolla is perfect for them because it…
you can do all that and still have a car with character...but if you want to be braindead and never think about your car, or when its next maintenance is...or whether the clutch master might need looking at next time you are in etc. Then yes...Corolla. For zombie drivers.
It is not for me, but my #1 recommendation to anyone who asks me, resident petrolhead of the group, what car to buy...I always say Corolla or Camry. For people who don’t want to think about their cars, who just want to drive and have the car always work...they are the best choice.
With that kind of weather, know you are going to slide. Expect it. Drive slow with deliberate movements, and correct any sliding with deliberate, slow opposite lock. Sudden movements is how you spin out - momentum overtakes traction. Anytime you are going to take a turn, expect it to feel like driving on ice. Too many…
but like I said, I clean mine every spring while I am doing spring cleaning for my cars. literally no time lost and I am already doing a leisure activity so cannot be making money...
Sounds terrible, looks terrible, performs terrible. Would rather have a Yugo because at least then it is ironic rather than tryhard.
