I do feel like the brightness on the PC version needs to be turned down before first playing, it looks like ign left theirs alone

Definitely, but you need to take Kingdom Hearts 1 with a grain of salt. A lot of its gameplay style had never been explored before resulting in some pretty long tutorialized sequences

I run the same except I'm using an iMac with the quadcore i7 processor and dedicated nvidia graphics card. I can run Metro Last Light perfect and find no need to dish more money for a dedicated pc atm.
