If providers were to account for overhead by putting that in program fees they would never enroll parents because they would have to double the fees to make a 60k profit. I agree that uber and pizza delivery aren’t a career but child care can be and for many thousands of people it is and it’s a line of work that

That’s one of the biggest problem in working in any field that’s relies on public funding: once they see that you can get by with less they see no reason to increase your operating budget unless you go into crisis.

I don’t understand why this doesn’t have like 3 million stars.

That’s true in some regard but child care is not a gig profession. It is a career unlike a pizza delivery driver or uber driver (I acknowledge some people resort to having that be their only source of income but they are still not sustainable careers). Also gross income is not even close to a good indicator for what

That’s the number one reason people enter the field.

What you’ve described is the fundamental paradox to the profession. Without government assistance there is no way that paying for child care that is high quality yet also pays fair wages to its employees can be possible. Increasing cost would get to paying teachers a higher salary but passing that cost along to

I completely agree. I had really conflicting feelings about the strike yesterday and even considered posting a comment really similar to yours because though I work in child care professional advocacy now the first half of my career was about parent advocacy. Both are really important issues.

It’s telling that his handle is Mr Grinch. And agree so much to your final point. Child care providers put in on average 60 hour work weeks.

Even in home providers. When you calculate the hours they actually work (in the 10-12 hour per day range) vs. what they actually takeaway in profit it’s probably not even close to minimum wage.

Well put. You could even make t argument that child care providers have an even more important role based on what we know about the first 3-5 years of human growth and development.

Yeah child care providers especially ones who work from home usually only end up profiting about half of what they actually take in revenue. Only providers who have large licenses with waitlists who also employ their spouses and family members make the bigger 50k+ incomes

I hope cause you killed them.

Yeah teachers who have tenure and have been in the same job are definitely making a comfortable living but many teachers who have been in the field a few years make dismal wages in many districts.

Really glad you asked. 240 a week that’s 1200. That’s a ton when you aren’t running a business out of your home and you’re just taking home a straight check. But whenyou’re responsible for the cost of food, supplies, business expenses, insurance, overhead etc. that isn’t all profit. she might be making upwards of 4800

Both teachers and child care providers are two of the most underpaid professions in this country. I get really pissed when people think that teachers are just stand ins for child care providers because even child care providers deserve to be paid 2-3x what they actually make.

To die, to pube, no more.

Oh yeah and I mean there is something to be said for the aesthetic of a well manicured man bush. I don’t like feeling like I need a weedwhacker and a pith helmet to wade through an ocean of pubes.

I’m really lucky in that my leg hair is really fine and blonde so I don’t really have to shave them. That said my crotch and armpits are like swarthy itchy Mexican hair balls so I shave my pits and get my lady waxed for my own comfort.

I want to say to him ‘Wow it must be so difficult having people gauge their attraction to you based on your personality and respectfulness and not on superficial things that actually don’t indicate any real measure of your worth. Poor men :(’

If I did anything right with Chalupa Batman it was convincing him to stop shaving his chest hair. He’s not a swarthy guy my any means but he has that little tuft that sticks out his collar all sexy-like. Are there women who actually like the full on hairless Rico Suave chest thing?
