In a perfect system that would be true but employers can and do find ways to punish low wage workers. Reduction of hours, transfers to locations outside of their range of travel. And your average low wage worker isn’t usually super knowledgeable about their rights.

I get that too but also really empathize with low wage workers who would likely stand to be punished for participating in such a strike. Asking people to put their livelihoods at risk is a big ask, for people like me who can just ask for a day off it’s an easy choice. For those who can’t I can see why they’d be afraid…
