There’s two 1-hour practice sessions on Friday, one 1-hour practice and a one hour qualifying session on Saturday, and the race lasts less than 2 hours on Sunday.

Exactly!

Honestly, I’d love to live on a racetrack for one weekend a year.  Isn’t living next to a stadium loud enough anyway on a regular basis?

We live in Long Beach, CA. literally on the GP track downtown (turn 8 to be precise).  When the crowd control fences go up the Thursday before race weekend, my neighbors do exactly this and laugh all the way to the bank.  Everybody still there has a blast of a weekend.  It’s a feature, not a bug.

People will build a house next to a race track and then complain about the noise and get the track shut down. People suck.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to take a vacation for a weekend and AirBnB your house near the stadium for $1000+ a night.

Plans to protest at every Dolphins game.

There’s no way someone is paying $65k for a Subaru and then driving it in the snow.  This will be a weekend toy for most, a track toy for some, and a garage queen for others.  Year round daily?  I don’t see it.

id be very curious to see the lap times of the C8 vs this on various racing circuits. Cause while i am a subie fan (and owner) the C8 does look amazing for that price. I guess if you get one of these special STi’s at least you can drive year round if you live where it snows.

Oddly enough, a dealer brought a Cayman that looked just like that to Cars & Coffee last weekend, and they left the window sticker on the car. The options list didn’t look ridiculous, but it brought the thing up to a little over $100k.

I have a 2019 STI that I adore, EJ25 and all, but couldn’t possibly justify the $24k premium. There are a plethora of better options at that price, and if you really wanted the WRX, you could make most of the changes to a base STI, add more power than the 341, and keep $8k around to rebuild the engine once it pops.

I’m shocked I had to scroll down this far in the comments to see this, the most obvious and correct of takes.

Can you give up on three pedals for a tremendous automatic?

Sounds like he likes domestics so buy something that’s probably going to appreciate in value. The SS

Racing is expensive.

When I was in high school, my dad and I built a street stock on a shoestring budget and raced at our local 1/4 mile asphalt oval.  Our class was considered the entry-level class.  Not counting the cost to build the car, my dad calculated that we would have to win every A-Main and never break anything the entire season

I did the math recently and I spent over 40k for two years of racing. Fortunately, the operating cost is getting lower and lower. With that said, I was looking into 100cc karting and still those motors cost the same as my rebuilt M20. I predict spending 10K per season with an extra 7K for the kart. Technically, it

People are vulnerable when they are uncertain, especially when costs could be large and are unknown.
