As someone who know and loves people who work at the UN, Trump is literally making Russia great again by abdicating our leadership. This can ripple far and wide to include peacekeeping missions and refugee care.

Politics Corner - Oh Little Town of Bethlehem edition. Bethlehem usually gets a big boost from Christmas tourism for some reason. Not this year. This year a Trump stole their Christmas. Hotels and shops that would normally be bustling are getting scrooged by Trump’s Jerusalem proclamation, which has inflamed tension

Cool. Shout-out to you and your friends.

Friends from College is SO bad.

Nope these hacks had to put some Marvel crap on the list instead. Seriously whoever recommended that scene from The Defenders should be fired. It’s like watching an action scene from Walker Texas Ranger.

Lando Calrissian, the eternally smooth smuggler who somehow became the Baron Administrator of Cloud City and a general for the Rebel Alliance.

I didn’t intend it that way, but I guess it could be, depending on how it was portrayed.

Wonder Woman making the cut would astonish me. It’s such an unremarkable, just about competent movie, with lots of problems and a terrible last act (“I WILL DESTROY YOU!!!!”) I think I really liked one scene, everything else was either OK or bad.

Also weird that it was beaten by Star Wars, which came out four decades ago.

I might have to admit that finding things about myself to loathe is the only area in which I do not underachieve.

If we’re comparing with last year, and ignoring stuff that’s still grayed out here, we’re at 17.5% [of a total that probably wasn’t final until at least a week after publication]. I don’t imagine this will catch up but it won’t be quite so microscopic as it might look initially.

I’m not a huge fan of Kinja and don’t rep the site in any official way as a freelancer, but I can tell you, the best films retrospective pieces in the past few years would not typically get “thousands” of comments in their lifespan, let alone in five or six hours. They all top out well under 1500 comments total.

He definitely could have expounded on why he feels that way but I think it’s a lesser sin. The verbal equivalent in a discussion of breakfast cereals would be:

No one would be responding smugly or dickisly to him if he actually took just a few sentences to explain why TLJ wouldn’t be on a list of his favourite films of the year.

The Last Jedi probably deserves the bottom spot on both the “Best” and “Worst” lists.

Counterpoint: I’m quite pleased to see it here.

In your opinion.

Logan beat it for me by doing something genuinely different and emotionally resonant with a character who it sometimes felt like there were no surprises left.

Ah, I see, you both misunderstood my statement and aren’t informed of the discourse regarding Aaron Sorkin.

I tend to agree with him, though I think he’s talking about elitism in terms of meritocracy rather than class.
