It’s reminiscent of the “racism” paradox double standard thing: People are infinitely more offended by being called “racist” than by their actual racist tendencies. They outright deny the allegation without stopping to reflect on whether or not there’s a kernel of truth to it.

When Avenatti first started doing interviews, he was blowing people’s minds by giving curt “Yes” or “No” answers, being straight and being honest. I think everything can be summed up in a single reductive statement; it all depends on execution. Cage struggles on that front as well, but I’m curious.

The last few years have been good for people who like snow and sand.

Even if it was, I think it would be appropriate to approach the situation rationally and cautiously, saying, “While it is clearly a joke, let’s clarify why it’s not all that funny, why you think it is, and what we can do to prevent the grain of truth within the joke from taking root.”

Dude, that’s a bad thing. You should not have to do so, and being able to do so, which a point of pride, isn’t a healthy way of leading your life.
