Don’t.
Don’t.
I love those taillights :(
Dutch GP? You mean Austrian?
First off, rewatch Baku 2017 -- that was a _double bump_ and deserved a black flag, not just a 10s drive-through.
Second off, F1 cars pull _way_ more G’s in turns, and are made out of way more carbon fiber. There’s a reason rules are more strict for F1.
The Most Correct Answer, then, is for Stef to also invest in a cage.
But, see my other reply: http://jalopnik.com/1827298370
The comments actually address that -- that’s what the ASM in Schroth ASM stands for; anti-submariner. There’s a little clasp that will intentionally break/let loose in a crash/with sufficient force, so that your body pivots like a 3-point instead of submarining.
Stef, have you considered buying a set of Schroth ASM 4-point harnesses, for EXACTLY the above reason?
As far as I can tell, the install is the same as they were on my Miata. Undo stock seatbelt bolts (both harness and lock), thread an end through, re-do said bolts. Tada, multi-point harnesses, less you getting thrown…
Having researched a Miata or two in my time:
That linked one is amazing.
My only added advice would be to research the VIN and see if it has the short-nose crank or not (switched partway through ‘91). If it doesn’t, it’s even more amazing.
I wish my ‘91 had the extra 0.2L and OBD-II of newer Miatae, but beggars and…

I am mad at the #91 car. I am also mad at the NFA call; I’m with Seb Bourdais here. That wasn’t racing.
Why would you need rear view mirrors when you _know_ all the other cars are going to just stay behind you ;)
Surprised this wasn’t a Stef post :P
If they can get it road legal in California, then they can hire you as their butler.
I never said WHAT roadster ;)
Aston with WWII Spitfire Boost Gauge: $450,000.
WWII Spitfire Boost Gauge on its own: £45-£75
I know which one *I* would pick, especially if I was to, say, build a BRG with tan interior roadster of some form, and then turbo it...
Probably. We’re not exactly talking “road legal, super safe” here.
Does anyone else think that if you were to gut the interior, use the body/chassis exactly as-is, and rebuild the engine/suspension/brakes/etc; it would actually look pretty badass, in a Mad Max kind of way?
How do you put almost 200,000 on a Dodge Viper...and live to tell the tale. That’s the REAL question here.
