Theon Greyjoy is dead-on.
Theon Greyjoy is dead-on.
Yeah, I mean I like Trixie the best but I don’t want her to win. It will bring her a lot of hate for taking it away from Shangela and, as much as I’m not here for a Shangie victory, I’m even more-not-here for that.
I actually thought Bebe looked really cool tonight but it doesn’t matter because her attitude is overshadowing everything positive about her time on Drag Race. It’s clear she thought she was going to walk in, put forth minimal effort and walk out with the crown. And she just might, which would be a damn shame.
This was not a good episode of Drag Race. The challenge was one of the worst-written in series history, ‘fashion’ on the runway was mostly a mess, there was no real runway breakdown from the judges. If it wasn’t for Shangela’s bonkers lip-sync choices, this would have been a real snooze.
I have this fantasy of him winning and thanking his partner in the audience. Which is why the original song category is the only one I care about.
Maybe this seems stupid or inappropriate, but I’ve been waiting for his work on this film to springboard into him coming out (assuming he indeed is of the LGBT community). I feel like there’s this elephant in the room that no one is talking about: That a potentially closeted individual wrote the love song of the…
If Aja had been kicked off Week 3 then I would agree with you, but I feel (much like Tati last cycle) she has accomplished her mission of making the world love her. Morgan has only been seen being cunty af, so she needs it a lot more. Plus I know what Aja would bring to a comedy acting challenge, but Morgan? No clue,…
Again though it only made such an impact because she did so well. The other girls had every opportunity she had (outside of the Diva challenge) to do well and she bested them at nearly every opportunity. So if this was a total ruse than the entire season has been a total ruse. I’m not ready to believe that.
Shangie was pretty low-profile this episode. I saw actual growth (!!) when she didn’t use the opportunity of everyone going in on each other to jump into people’s arguments (that often). When Shangela is reasonable it’s like she’s an entirely different person, a person I really enjoy watching on television. It’s weird.
It would only mean something if she had been winning consistently though. Since there was no doubt she’d win if she had stayed until the end, it felt less like riggedness. Because she really did do the best on all of the challenges she was in the Top 2 for, outside of this one.
I mean I hate Season 9 more than probably anyone but even at its worst I think it’s better than a vehicle towards YouTube shows, which are pretty much gone now thanks to Wow+.
I’m moving farther and farther from this opinion because it was brought to my attention that she gave up the crown, not just her position. Would she really do that if she wasn’t feeling it?
Was it good television? Absolutely. Was it satisfying narratively? Er, neeeeooo.
But Kennedy is a much more exciting queen to me than Roxxxy is. And after rewatching the episodes it really wounded me to see how hurt she was that Milk dismissed her. Maybe I’m just a sucker but her admitting that she lashes out a lot due to insecurity really hit home for me. She’s been taken as a joke so often in…
If Trixie is indeed the winner than we will revisit this conversation (unless she’s like luminously brilliant in the last two episodes, which is possible I guess). But right now I think the biggest conspiracy is how DeLa got the white-out.
I have so many feelings about this that it’s probably going to take a few days to process. So consider these thoughts even more in-flux than usual:
It is thoroughly unsurprising to me that a bunch of old white people can’t rap. But the idea that they’re not smart enough to find words that actually rhyme with ‘there’ strikes absolute terror into my heart.
Not only that but a lot of the artists I listen to on Spotify ONLY have singles or EPs.
Will it be frustrating as all holy hell? Yes yes a thousand times yes. But will it necessarily be bad TV? That I’m not sure about. I’m going into it with no expectations of fairness or decency with the simple hope of being entertained and moved to some sort of emotion. Which is why I’m approaching the end of the first…
I’m throwing my support behind Monet because I trust Bob’s taste in friends. I think Aquaria being Sharon Needles’ drag daughter is interesting, and I love Yuhua’s look (but I’ve been burned before by aesthetic choices). I think it has the potential to be a really strong season, assuming the editing is on point.
