I do remember having grown up in Northern California in the mid-80s (born ‘73), “Dude” was a normal part of my lexicon. Whenever I’d meet non_CA people they’d often remark if I said dude. “Oh my god, did you just say dude?!?!”

I’ll grant you that Kansas and Boston is a bit of a tossup - Boston is mostly just one super talented guy who had one really good album of rock in him, while Kansas has more staying power, but seriously wrote the worst lyrics I can imagine (and I’m a Yes fan).

Some genius made a board game called ‘The Game’, which, in addition to being the nominal title of a meta-zen-don’t-think-of-an-elephant-activity, is an SEO nightmare.

“And four other bands!”

If I recall !!! can be searched as chk-chk-chk or something like that?

Well, sort of. Imagine more like the blew up the wildlife shelter and then scattered to the winds...

Can you even imagine if he did though? The conspiracy theories about how he was poisoned or targeted with some kind of deep state superweapon would last until the end of time.

I mean if there was something that could be accurately labeled a war, it would be more along the lines of an insurgency, which is how most wars are now anyway, since staking out a territory and sticking a middle finger out at a powerful country is just like putting a target up that says “you know that big fancy

Oh for sure, and to you (and the delightful folks in the greys) I certainly did not mean to suggest that “therefore we should do nothing” – I’m not sure what I said that even implied such a thing. Like yeah, there will always be car accidents, but that doesn’t mean “fuck seatbelts! drive drunk!”.

I mean basically I think people like the mean girl when she’s being mean to someone you don’t like.

I think what people mean by “unavoidable” is that even if you *could* eliminate every illegal hit from the game, players would still be at risk of head trauma, spine/neck injuries, and CTE.

And we have frillions of laws related to car and traffic safety. What’s your point?

OK, but drugs are a shitty example. How about someone who “snitches” on a murderer? Or a rapist? You want those people to keep their mouths shut too?

I think the reason it (hopefully) won’t work this time is its really easy to give a once sentence summary of what he did wrong: “Withheld foreign aid to a country unless that country agreed to investigate a political rival.” While the russia stuff is damning if you take the time to understand it, there’s no capsule

No, the thing that got moderate democrats to move was their belief that this would actually move the needle on public opinion. Starting impeachment proceedings when the national for/against split was around 38/55 would be monumentally dumb, especially when getting a conviction is very nearly off the table. It’s still

That is one hell of a straw man. I literally made *none* of those arguments.

I’m not advocating for any other action. If you’re asking me (like my opinion matters), I think the Patriots definitely should have cut Brown and his “I’m the victim because I had a signed contract” thing can go fuck itself.

“I am more and more leaning to letting things play out in civil/criminal court before the teams/league take any action.”

I’m not even talking about Brown. And do the extent that I did I said he was most likely guilty. He’s not entitled to shit. Fuck him. Is that clear enough for you?

Way to  focus on the figure of speech rather than the actual substance. It’s merely a way of saying “I’m not agreeing, I’m trying to add some nuance.”
