Agreed, but as a policeman, you have a reasonable expectation of finding yourself in that situation, and ought to be able to handle it without falling to pieces and killing people.

If he was about to pull a gun on the officer, why warn the officer that he has a gun? Seems if you’re about to pull a gun, the element of surprise would be helpful.
