Yeah, I read that whole thing that was in the NY TImes a few weeks back.
She’s either deliberately conning this family or she’s more likely suffering some kind of delusion about her ability to communicate with him.
DJ couldn’t answer any questions that she didn’t already know the answer to.
Very sad case.

True story - my mom and grandma have curly hair. My grandma had always gotten shit at jobs for her hair. When she finally got a union job, she wore a straight wig for her entire probationary period (a few months?) ad then the day after her probation was up, she wore her real hair to work and they couldn't say a damn

I’m so tired of my curly hair not being “nice” or “professional” enough. It’s so ridiculous that curly hair has some kind of weird value attached to it.

The ACA is still a disaster compared to any sane health care infrastructure. It’s only good compared to what the US used to have.

they had managed to raise only $5.

this is so incredibly sad. the medical system is broken and so is everything else if someone would make this choice.

It’s so odd how when it is citizens who are being observed, questioned, and surveiled, it’s “If you aren’t doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about!” And then when it’s the police being subject to the very same behavior, it’s suddenly a privacy violation and inhibits their ability to do their jobs.

Some cops go for that kind of thing on purpose: doing something that causes you to flinch away from them in such a way that could be called “resisting arrest.”

That’s most of people’s “resisting”imo. Pure biological response. All the cop stans who yell about stop resisting should be subjected to those tactics and see what they would do.

Besides the original incident being nearly two years old, the apology was also in the Texas Monthly article that Stassa Edwards used to provide this ‘new’ one.

I don’t like headphones in public myself, for the same reason, but people do have the freedom to wear them if we choose.

See up top for the link in another comment: but no, you do not have to identify yourself until and unless you are arrested.

Literally everything about this situation is absurd. She should not have been taken into custody for anything that happened.

Notwithstanding the fact that this is absolutely infuriating - this arrest and Acevedo’s comments happened back in February of 2014. People are just talking about this incident again because APD brutally assaulted some young men for jaywalking earlier this week. https://photographyisnotacrime.com/2015/11/austin…

Dumb question amnesty: what does “failure to identify herself” mean? Did she refuse to give her name? Because it’s not like you need an ID to go out jogging. Is refusing to give your name to the cops an arrestable offense?

The goat=devil thing is just the result of Christian groups trying to convert and talk trash about Pagans hundreds of years ago. It’s also why Jews were said to have horns—again, the devil/evil association—in anti-Semetic literature. Considering you were coming out of an intensely traumatic situation, it was probably

I was hesitant to write my experience down, but in some ways, I think it will be therapeutic for me.

When I was 17, I moved out of my house and away from my abusive mother. My aunt had a 2nd floor loft above her garage - she graciously let me live there in order to get out of the situation I was in. The loft was about

AHHH kids can be so spooky

Here’s one story I’d like to throw in for fun. An experience from a close friend of mine.

OK, So I’m curious to see if anyone else thinks this is creepy.
