One thing I didn’t realize until recently, the show has never established if Shiv was actually good as a political operative or if teams just wanted her for her connections and money. At the beginning of the show I assumed she was competent but in a different field and mistakenly thought it meant she could apply that

Now playing

Very hard to find movie today, but one of my absolute favorites, is “Barbarians at the Gate” (If you love Succession, you’ll love that movie). It’s the story of the leverage buyout of RJR Nabisco. David Rasche has a great small part in it as well - in fact - I think he gets to say the title line in a hilarious over

He was a terrible father, but honestly, that kind of leadership is kind of a random “born with it” thing, even being the best dad in the world can’t guarantee it.

Yes.

Because a shocking number of these people are actually idiots!

I think it would have been nice to have her have some kind of scene where she realized what all those calls from Tom were really about.

I totally agree, I thought of The Body as well.

The vibe I get from the trailers is that now she is really part of the family (and Logan is gone) she’s going to shift into being involved in helping Connor become a player in the family.  I think it will be an interesting turn.  With her help Connor might be a contender.

I also love how we will never know if Conor even cared or was just doing it to help his flagging presidential bid.  I really think Roman might be the only person that loved Logan.

so is jerri fired or not what’s going on there?

Yeah, but now they have some real plot to work on for the last 7 episodes. Another go around of “the kids try to screw Logan and lose” would have been repetitive. I’m actually less worried about the show now then I was at the start of episode 3.

We are all so programmed for these kinds of things to happen at the end of a season (and for it to be telegraphed several episodes earlier) that it is just a shock for it to randomly happen in episode 3 (although in hind-site it is the perfect time).

Never gonna happen, but my god does David Rasche deserve an Emmy.

Not quite that long for me, but I seriously thought it was a cruel joke or test for the first few minutes.

To this day (regarding “Deep Space Homer”) I believe “In Rod We Trust” is the single best 30 minute callback joke ever written. As absolutely bonkers as the entire episode is, it’s like the whole thing was written just to bring it full circle. I am still in absolute awe of that gag.

At this point how many Jedi were running around during the original Star Wars Trilogy? Even putting that aside why didn’t any of them help Luke when he tried to start up the Jedi academy again, or come out of hiding when the Empire was defeated?

The only problem with LOTR was Amazon got caught up in a ridiculous bidding war and unfortunately won. Whoever won that bidding war was going to lose.

I loved the Expanse, but they really gave it every chance they could.  It’s not a great example of what is going wrong.  It was a show that you, I, and a very small number of other people loved.

The difficulty difference between the normal combat and the bosses was huge. I got to the point where normal combat was simple and bosses were still basically impossible. I think there was something I just fundamentally did not understand about combat (I finished Elden Ring without too much difficulty). I had to

Generally agree, although I already dread every moment they waste with Keeley’s new company. It is a complete waste of time. I’d much rather they just had Keeley stay working for the club and give that time to the rich set of characters they already have.
