That’s the funny thing. Foundation is actually incredibly simple to film - the whole book is just dialog between people with some simple descriptions - there’s barely a line of internal dialog in the whole first three books.

It’s just that audiences won’t put up with a completely new cast every 3 episodes.

I’m an absolute mega-fan of the books, I’ve ready the series over a dozen times at this point, and I’m just going to let it go and enjoy a show “Very loosely based on some of the ideas by that guy, Mr. Asimov” :)

Curious if they have the rights...

The first book is really a set of short stories, but I almost think you could make the second half of Foundation and Empire (The Mule) and the two halves of Second Foundation (Search by the Mule, Search by the Foundation) each into full 10 episodes seasons without stretching thing out too badly. You’d have a new cast

It would have been fine, you just would have had one set of great characters for 3 episodes disappear after another.  Most TV audiences would never put up with it.

One of the core ideas is that the way the Empire survived was by facilitating specialization, centralized training and building huge capital intensive structures. So a planet wouldn’t have hundreds of power plants run by thousands of people, but one giant powerplant, constructed off-world, brought in by the empire,

The real irony is Foundation is actually incredibly easy to film. Every short story is written in a very plain, simple to film manner with very little internal monolog, and lots of dialog between characters. It’s just that no network has faith that an audience would watch a show where no character is on the show for

I’m guessing that the whole reason this emperor genetic clone thing has been added to the story (because there is not a single sentence about a clone line in any of the books - it is invented out of whole cloth) is so they can revisit Cleon’s line at Trantor over the centuries and have a personification of the state

I understand wanting to create a way to Lee Pace to be in the show over much to the 1000 year time period (although the books end long before that), but the fact that Emperor’s are commonly assassinated and overthrown during the time period of the books is actually a core part of at least one of the stories.

The whole thing is borderline insulting toward women. Yes there are more men than women that run infrastructure, but there are more than enough women to keep things going. Especially if you pick your battles (give up on rural power).

They are acting how I would expect them to act on day 6, not day 60. Does Brian K. Vaughan really have this low an opinion of women?

I have not read the comic, but how rational people would behave and the narrative are really colliding badly so far. Yorick and that monkey are beyond priceless, in reality once they were anywhere with any kind of authority they would immediately be detained. That goes 1000% for the monkey. The idea that they would

Do you not own a single apple product?  Because you get apple tv for free if you buy an apple coffee mug at this point.

It is the obvious solution to the time problem. If I were writing the show, I’d basically cross cut “Prelude to Foundation” and The Psychohistorians” with the rest “Foundation” and “Foundation and Empire” over two or three seasons. You’d keep the Seldon period characters throughout, then you’d end with Seldon’s death

I don’t know, there are a lot of great characters in the books.  The core problem is that none of them last more then 50 pages.

I think the show is going to be very good, but also very hard for real fans of the books to swallow. It already looks like he is taking a lot of liberties with the stories, which will probably make great narrative sense in their own world (and help a lot with making the show more palatable for tv and a 1000 year

Already I’m pretty disappointed by the show. Honestly, figuring out what caused this and whether all men suddenly died or if all men can’t live anymore is going to have a huge effect of what to do. Questions I would 100% expect the government to have answers for by day 10:
- Did people pregnant with boys lose them?
-

Try telling you husband to cook it how he wants and don’t complain about it no matter what. A lot of men ask because a lot of women are much pickier about the food they eat then men are. If you get out of that pattern you might not get a steak that’s salted and seared before going in the oven but he won’t be asking

What the fuck happened to the second part of the zombie episode?

I thought the season would be done after this Wednesdays episode.  How many episodes are there going to be?
