I thought the comic was... interesting. Way overhyped.

When you think about it, [my generation is] a failure. The world is unquestionably worse now than it was then.
If The Brave and the The Bold was still around they would have contacted these guys and made an episode in this style.
My main time with comics was the mid 80's. What a time to be a comic reader! “What if” was huge, and it was also the heyday of the mini (4) and max (12) series, another opportunity for writers to go out on a limb and tell big stories about little known characters. Culminating with the fantastic Thor run, Secret Wars,…
Yeah, it won’t be streaming-centric. It’s amking a massive bet on something that even companies as big as the Sony and MS have no control over. What if the PS5 is streaming based, xbox 2 is not and suddenly Comcast decides to charge an extra $20 a month for game streaming bandwidth. Way too risky!
There have been some fantastic cases of stuff like this in the game industry.
E.G. Give me money to make the ultimate Firefly game, then I’ll talk to the IP holders! No, I’ve never made a game before. No, I’ve never spoken to the IP holders before. No, I don’t have a team yet. Stop Laughing!
It’s too bad, because the one that had some potential (Obi-Wan) is getting sidelined because of Solo (which nobody had any interest in).
One of the great things about Picard is that he could play it as an older man and people would really love it. Few roles would allow him to do that. I also bet, because of how this happening that it would be a full conceived story over a season or two, which would have a huge appeal.
I agree about the Khan thing. Star Trek is really one of the very few franchises that isn’t about people, it’s about the interaction of a collection of societies, so it can tell different stories with different people and still pull in all the fans that love the cannon. Which is why, in my opinion, it’s more valuable…
While I think false reporting is very rare in the case of non-famous people, I do not believe that is the case when famous people are involved. People act even less rational than normal when dealing with famous people.
As someone from Seattle, that is really embarrassing.
My rerecollection was that it was originally going to be a much bigger project. Which is probably when Jones got involved, and then it was scaled back.
If you work at the MIT Media Lab you aren’t really a professor.
As much as I liked the comic, I have to admit, I was pretty shocked at how low the production values were of the show. It looks like it was shot by some college kids on a lark.
This movie is never getting made.
It will never beat this:
If Apple moved to USB-C it would be the nicest thing a large modern company has ever done. They would literally be leaving billions of dollars on the table because they actually care about their customers. I have an Android phone right now, but I might just switch to Apple products going forward on principle.
The only people I know who are there are the League of Legends guys, I’ve turned them down twice now simply because housing is a non-starter for anyone with kids.
Simply put, gaming is different because you cannot afford to pay your employees nearly the same as other branches of tech. Although honestly, housing on the West Coast is getting so crazy that even non-gaming tech is starting to have problems.
I can’t believe anyone is stupid enough to open a studio in Santa Monica (The Initiative). The price of a 2 bedroom house there is well past $2 million dollars. I don’t care how good someone’s pedigree is, when you agree to open a studio with them you look at the cost of living. Terrible decision making. They are…
