Not a big fan of the book, but I am really curious about the adaption. In the book there was no negatives to having huge parts of it in the cyber-world. I think with the fear of this being seen as a CGI movie that they are going to shift a lot to the real world (this trailer really seems to hint toward that). It also

Did you see Matt Frewer in Altered Carbon? I cheered!

Spielberg was brought on after the production company had the rights and had even started some early pre-production. As unbelievable as it may sound, this is actually work for hire for Spielberg.

Didn’t this already feel like a slam on rural America? Making them black would have been even more obvious (Let’s add Trump hats!)

Shhhhh, you’re thinking too much.

For some reason, that’s what gave the whole thing away to me in the first minute.

Do you mean a buysexual woman?

I don’t understand why, they are constantly doing serious maintenance on the ships. I assume after 20 years, every part has been replaced.

“We did it one or two times where he went full Shatner, like when he says ‘fire’ in the opening. That’s straight out of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. I love those movies. I’m quoting my heroes. So it comes from a place of love.”

If this was an ensemble show, I would agree with you, but this is completely Burnham’s show (which is a huge departure for Trek and my biggest issue from a scripting point of view). Also, as far as I’m concerned, what Burnham did in the first episode was unforgivable.

I really wonder if the the first season was suppose to end with episode 13 (perhaps with or without Georgiou coming back). Those last two episodes really felt bolted on, and the end of 13 would have been a good cliff-hangar season ender (maybe they were afraid of being cancelled and added those two episodes for a

Don’t worry, the way Discovery is going, season 2 will have a whole swath of episodes about the Guardian of Forever, so we can beat that idea into the ground as well.

It’s actually not a bad premise for a show - as long as you keep the important parts: Having a highly competent authority figure that cannot use the suit as a forced partner is key.

I remember being on vacation in California when that song was at its peak popularity. I am not kidding, they would play it dozens of times a day on the radio, once the DJ just laughed and said, “Let’s just play it again!” to this day, I’ve never heard a radio station play the same song back-to-back. It was nuts.

God, I remember that now too.

I remember being all ready to hate watch the BSG remake, and then...

You’re getting soft old man

This heavily and obviously? Yes, I’m pretty shocked. It’s some real high-school fan-fic level fan-service. I expected better. I if I was the level of writer they can afford to hire, I would want to write some of my own ideas.

Yes, there are certainly a few references (more so in the first few episodes), but imagine the level of fan-wank Discovery has had throughout the entire run of TNG. It would have been unbearable.

I really hope that Season two starts up with the Discovery warping away after the encounter with the Enterprise.
