It could jump .99 cents in a hour....WORTH IT to see that crime syndicate outta action.

Making prototypes doesn’t make a company legit. Making series-production vehicles for sale to the public is the actual measure of being not-vaporware.
“As Nikola walks back its partnership with GM” - Pretty sure you wrote that backwards
Bollinger isn’t vaporware, but nor do they have a business model that will make their business sustainable. I assume they’ve pivoted to super luxury price points for a very cool but utilitarian truck because they’re looking for a path to cash flow survival —- doesn’t seem like a great omen.
I mean, anyone who ever thought the Badger was going to be a real thing, is a fucking moron. And yes, this apparently includes many wealthy and powerful people. It’s simply stunning to me how transparently obvious of a scam the entire Nikola operation always was, and yet, Mary Barra, GM, wall street, and news media…
b-but it was going to destroy Tesla and show all those smug EV people that hydrogen is the fuel of the future!
People always like to forget that Tesla was selling actual cars before its IPO. Sure it was a niche car but it was tangible and people could actually buy it and drive it. That’s a huge step in the car world to actually have a saleable product. All these people “investing” in vaporware companies are in for a hard time.
You’re not wrong that our charging infrastructure is woefully inadequate. But to me, this kinda reads more as a repudiation of electric drivetrains for specific applications, e.g. touring motorcycles. In most modern electric cars, you’re making this trip in complete comfort with maybe two stops along the way.
How is a slideshow necessary for this?
He was just lucky is all. If he took that hit on the driver’s door, he’d be dead no matter what he was driving. Once saw a picture of an audi split in two when the driver hit a tree. The tree passed by his right arm with inches to spare. He was 6-8" from death.
It really has to do with the fact that driving at 100mph takes hyper focus and quick in reaction times and those are the last things you are when baked.
“the driver, Dylan Milota, was able to escape on foot before being caught three blocks away and taken to a hospital.”
“So, what seems to have happened here is that Autopilot was on, it detected a collision warning 40 seconds before impact, which kicked Autopilot off, but that warning was just a chime and Automatic Emergency Braking does not seem to have been enabled.”
This article is incredibly misleading. Autopilot wasn’t involved here. It doesn’t run past 90mph and had shut off 40 seconds before the impact. It’s all on the driver.
Le’ sigh . . .
Autosteer turns off in a fit of rage at 90 mph.
Given that the person was actively steering and had control over the throttle, I’m not sure how this ties into Autopilot. As much as I don’t like Tesla, this seems to be no different than any other idiot speeding recklessly in any other car.
This appears to have nothing to do with tesla. The same thing would have happened in any car this guy was driving. The only difference is that nobody would know. Shitty driver. Bad jalopnik for trying to shift blame.
The driver wasn’t relying on Autopilot (which disengaged 40 secs prior, and won’t engage at more than 5 MPH over the limit). He was intentionally trying to max out his car’s top speed.
