I mean, it seems pretty clear that management was fucking up if they weren’t accounting for folks being off on Fridays when it was technically official policy for half the company to be out on those days.

Yep. And if you complain to someone that your manager/team isn’t following the rules you’ll be considered “not a team player” or you’re “rocking the boat.”
That’s actually some good flavor text.
While the policy was popular, it also didn’t work very well because there was lax enforcement of the policy.
Not everyone was benefitting equally, so... get rid of it for everyone? What about do more to make sure those that still weren’t able to benefit got a chance to do so?
VCPR and Kchat were great, they better bring those back!
Many.. even most gamers enjoy visuals as an element of their gaming experience. For some, it’s the most important part. And really, they want to sell a new $60 title and build a new fan base. They’re not going to do that by simply porting a couple of 20 year old GBA games with just some QoL changes. I’m sure a…
I made a similar argument below about an hour ago. A hardcover novel is about $30. No one says “Why is Catcher in the Rye $30? It’s 70 years old!”
If you haven’t realized it yet, gamers are some of the cheapest people on the planet when it comes to their supposed hobby. And I’m not talking about retro game collecting.
I gladly paid $60 for Mass Effect Legendary edition, which this remaster seems to mirror pretty closely in terms of gameplay & scale. I’m not sure this is very high on my wishlist, but the prospect of playing Vice City on Switch sounds pretty fun, to be honest.
But can you play the silly ads and "talk shows"? Those are great.
I appreciate that they don’t just do PR for video game game companies, but the editor in me did triple stop at “blistering.” If the game was $80, fine. If it was just one of the games at $60, sure. But three sprawling open world, genre-defining classics slightly re-furbed with controls that don’t make me resort to IRL…
That’s the aspect in terms of gameplay I think everyone has their eye on right now; it would be a massive boon if the combat is improved by modern lock-on and mapping sensibilities.
I dunno, 60 bucks for 3 games that looks like a lot of work went into each one seems like a pretty good deal to me. Demon’s Souls remake was 70 bucks, and yeah, it was a fantastic remake, but still only one game we’ve already played. Heck, Mario 3D collection was 60 bucks and they barely touched them.
That was a lot of unnecessary editorializing over the price, which is neither blistering nor eye watering.
We’ve known since they were announced that the controls would be improved. That’s worth $60 alone, those shooting controls in the old games are nigh unplayable now.
Fair comment, I was just being facetious for shits n gigs. $20 per game seems reasonable to me for the work that’s gone into dragging them into a modern playable state.
That comment should be in the article.
Yeah, screw them asking for 20 dollas more than I believe these THREE iconic pieces of (now playable) video game history are worth! Harumph! I’m off to spend 5 dollas on a coffee... maybe buy a 30 dolla take out later today...
