Are you OK?
Are you OK?
I don’t see how your comment undermines my point.
You’re intentionally missing the point.
There are usually exceptions that prove the rule.
None of what you wrote is actually incompatible with what I wrote.
Whatever makes you feel better. ;P
All an employee should have to do to justify their continued employment is their job - otherwise, someone higher up has fucked up in some way.
Crunch and layoffs are both the result of poor management, not some inevitable part of the job.
You aren’t the first to make that claim in these comments... the last one I saw was inundated by comments from other fields. This is a gaming blog so we should expect the focus to be on something like programmers... but it would be a huge mistake to presume that a studio like Rockstar invented “crunch” (even if the…
Loyoffs are a zero-sum contest. There are winners and there are losers. No matter how much I would prefer otherwise, giving out participation prizes to everyone isn’t actually a valid option.
Wait... are you saying that it would be better if they punshed people for going above and beyond their responsibilities instead?!
Layoffs are a zero-sum contest. There are winners and their are losers. You can’t just give everyone a participation prize.
All your saying here is that context matters. Duh.
No one is saying that hours worked should be the only variable that matters in all situations.
None of what you said is actually incompatible with what I said.
Behold! I too can share a seemingly relevant picture.
I don’t see any reasonable alternative... one of the many incentives to work harder than your peers (which does equate to longer in some contexts) is job security. This is pretty much the status quo in any job.
That is the status quo in nearly any job, unless you want to start telling people they are forbidden from working harder than their peers (acknowledging that harder can simply equate to longer in some contexts).
I mean... if there aren’t any concerns over you transmitting harmful chemicals to your child (drugs, etc)... to each, their own. Weaning will happen at some point, and there are no guarantees it will be easy no matter when you choose to do it, but I don’t see how that is anyone else’s business.
My cat’s name is Bitty.
I do wonder why it’s any of our business how an individual chooses to spend their time.
I certainly think we should be critical of the particular way they chose to humble-brag about their choice to work 14 hour days (because of their leadership position and how it is likely to effect everyone else working on the…
Well... I think we really need to nip all this hard work in the bud. If they are willing (nay, happy) to put in 14 hour days then how the hell is a normal person grudgingly putting in 8-10 hours a day supposed to get ahead?!
Black people commit crimes. Am I doing it right? Obviously I only mean some. Nothing for people to get defensive about... right?
