I rode on Amtrak sleeper cars throughout the 90s and the first decade of this millennium and had a blast. The food was plentiful (and decent), the room was clean and comfy and the scenery was spectacular.

Nah I’m just a millennial who is aggravated that these cops are earning $150k after 8 years of service and retiring at 45 with a fat pension and free health care for life while my taxes go up and up. The boomers probably started the whole mess decades ago, though.
My $12,000 property tax bill that subsidizes outrageous police & fire salaries & benefits is probably the biggest scam in my city (or perhaps my entire state).
Utilities: water,gas,electricity,trash = 327$
Sigh I was a straight-A student with a journalism degree who left the profession due to low pay and lousy job prospects, yet this asshat is an editor in-chief. His father must have been a major investor in Business Insider or something.
Most of these sandals except for the Keen and Merrell ones look like they’ll be giving the wearer stubbed toes on the trail. I tried hiking in Keen Newport sandals and I grew tired of pulling pebbles and tiny sticks out of them every 15 minutes.

I actually hike wearing blaze orange most of the year because I want to be visible to hunters and potential rescuers.
Save the hassle and money and take the Circle Line ferry to Liberty Island but don’t purchase tickets to climb in the statue. It’s hot, crowded and the view ain’t that great from the crown. Visit the new Statue of Liberty museum on the island and take the ferry to Ellis Island (included with your statue ferry ticket) f…
I do lots of dayhiking and I usually pack as light as possible. These potential challenges have crossed my mind, even if I am hiking in a relatively urban area.
Thanks for reminding me that I should have attended law school :-(
I can’t believe I’m going to say this but you sound like a decent lawyer and boss. Keep it up! :-)
Wet Ticket is a NJ treasure. Fantastic beer and you can order pizza from Nancy’s Towne House next door, which has been consistently rated as serving one of the best pizzas in the Garden State.
If this took place in Florida, the man would be naked and trying to shoot an AR-15 at his car to make it stop. And it would also involve alligators and fentanyl somehow.
My coworker moved to a new house in an exurb 60 miles from the office and bragged how she now saves $1,200/year in property taxes. However, she drops her kids off at day care at 6 a.m. and has an almost 2 hour commute by car.
I’m feeling the same tug of war. I figured that proximity to work was more important because I spend more time in the office than in the great outdoors, unfortunately, so city living wins out.
The train runs by every time a goal is scored, or once a week, whichever is more frequent.
I hate my job less when I can spend 8 hours a week at work doing fun stuff like the above.
“It’s pretty tough to sell to a market that doesn’t have the means to buy.”
My former boss was in her 60s and considered anything beyond spaghetti “too ethnic” for her palate. Yes, she was a MAGA-phile and she often complain to me about our Spanish-speaking customers.
Yeah, but that $50k pickup has a 14" touch screen infotainment system ringed with rich Corinthian leather! And backup cameras for the backup camera! Don’t forget the leather-accented cupholders.
