I would have to watch "Root Beer Guy" again, but wasn't she already a lawyer? I thought she made some reference to reviewing a case file.

I have to imagine at least a little variation between candy subtypes. Peppermint Butler dates back to Shoko times, though that could be a function of the superior preservative properties of demon magic.

I'm fine with it precisely because of the PB scene as well. Just because they were literally made for one another doesn't mean they have to stay together regardless of situation, but rejecting him outright because of the circumstances of his origins is equally unfair.

Graham Falk episodes are always winners in my book. This one not quite as great as "Root Beer Guy", but that's a pretty high bar to clear.

And then more directly killed him in "From Bad to Worse".

Way back in "Henchman" she displayed the ability to transform into several different forms back to back, and we've seen several new forms since. I don't think we've ever seen partial transformations or her needing to study a creature in order to mimic its form, so all that is new. My first instinct is to attribute

The fact that the episode took two characters who'd previously had zero on-screen interactions and created such an emotionally wrenching episode 11 minutes is nothing short of a small miracle of screenwriting. However, the reason why this episode will probably never be topped for me is a bit more personal. My

Pretty good list, and I don't envy you the task of having to select which ones to cut, or having to order the ones you did include. I would take this opportunity to grouse at you for not including "Morituri Te Salutamus" or "Vault of Bones" on the list, but "I Remember You" is in the top spot, so all is forgiven.

If KOO is all he has to look up to, maybe he's better off in the asylum.

My affection for demon badgers is too great for me to back every part of that statement, but the last few episodes have done wonders for making KOO a unique AT villain.

Having a Beholder as the leader of the varmits is the only thing that would have made this episode better.

While rewatching some previous episodes today, it struck me how casually she refers to everyone around her as a bunch of morons. True as it may be, it certainly helps breed that mixture of compassion and arrogance.

I like how it makes him seem like he's trying to Single White Female PB, but he wants everyone to know about it.

*Daffy Duck voice* Hmmm… pronoun trouble…

While I enjoy all flavors of AT episodes, I can't qualify an episode where PB dual-wields shotguns and teams up with a demon badger to fight monsters as a "quiet" episode.

Hynden Walch has quickly become one of my favorite voice actresses due to her role as PB. It's truly astonishing how good she is.

I rewatched "The Cooler" earlier today, and it really does help inform her current character arc. Great point on how she may feel like it's too late to recover all she's sacrificed for her responsibilities, and how this episode may be the start in turning all that around.

If that was the first outing for Kris Mukai, I'm very encouraged about his addition to the storyboard crew. I don't think I've ever seen Marcy's shapeshifting powers depicted as fluidly or creatively as in this episode, and her demon badger(?) form was awesome.

And is the sexiest adventurer ever!

You're certainly not wrong, though that seems a bit of an unfair comparison. Those season openers, as well as "Incendium", were direct followups to season finale cliffhangers. We haven't really seen a standalone opener since the start of season 3.
