I recently helped my mom book a flight to see my sister. She hadn’t flown in 10 years or so. She was totally clueless about all the security rules. I told her to make sure and read everything and plan accordingly.

Both parties were wrong. The cyclist committed a very minor traffic violation at worst, and the driver committed a hit and run. I wasn’t trying to relieve her of any blame whatsoever.

Maybe airlines could do more to warn “vacationers” about restrictions:

I drive through the downtown area of my medium-sized city, and I can absolutely confirm that most cyclists disregard both traffic signs and traffic lights. Maybe the don’t know the law. Maybe they don’t care.
