BRING BACK EVANS!!!

Because there’s obviously more to QB value than just completion percentage? If that was the be all and end all for QBs Sam Bradford probably wouldn’t be on his 4th team.

Nope.

Seriously though, your analogy could be better. Carroll left on his own for a lucrative job in the NFL, probably knowing that some NCAA sanctions were coming down the line because of actual football related stuff.

Wait, why would the Sooners have to pick up the pieces?

Newsflash: that left fielder is already getting paid what they think she’s worth. There are 12 scholarships allowed per D-1 softball team, while most rosters are 20+. Unless you’re a pitcher you are unlikely to get a full scholarship offer, meaning your hypothetical left fielder is lucky to be getting half tuition

Fine by me. I bet it would be fine by the athletes as well. Probably wouldn’t be ok for the schools, because now instead of tax free tuition in kind they would actually have to shell out taxable dollars. I’m sure a few accounting professors can figure that out though.

They already do that. The big programs are already spending money whoever they can to get a competitive edge. That money just goes to anything and everyone except the actual players who win the games.

So blog where the Oscars are ripped perennially for their bad choices isn’t the place to rip the Oscars for their bad choices?

Indeed. Weakest by far in this category. Another Driving Miss Daisy style award from the Academy.

Whatever your feelings about Kobe, this film shouldn’t have won. It was easily the weakest entry this year in this category. I’ve seen the animated feature nominees for the last 4 or 5 years and it may be the weakest entry of that entire span.

There are “professional” mile times recorded back as far as 1855. Any pro runner with a stop watch was welcome to submit their time. None managed to break 4:00 before Bannister. Even his effort took years of intense training, as did Landy’s. The idea that these guys just took an amateur fancy to running and cranked

Normally I’d agree with this sentiment. In this case though, its probably true that Bannister was the first regardless of category. The 4:00 mile was a track target for almost 100 years and despite athletes all over the world trying for it it took 10 years for anyone to get from 4:01 to 3:59.

The light beer that Patriot slaying MVPs with huge hogs drink? Sounds like a pretty good pitch.

It’s not a great ad, but it’s nowhere near “morally bankrupt”. It doesn’t co-opt any movements or twist any ideologies or even make any promises.

*insert Rainer Wolfcastle in front of a brick wall*

By this logic shouldn’t teams draft every possible Michigan QB because they are bound to be the next Brady?

A quick glance at the all time OPS+ standings shows that’s not true. In other words, another “fact” you pulled directly from your ass.

Not great? Leading the league in Home runs isn’t great? Batting .305 with 52 home runs and leading the league in OPS isn’t great?

The plus part literally adjusts for the different eras of baseball.
