Elizabeth’s grandpa sounds great. The McRib detail really elevates it.

Possibly. But I doubt it. New York has the same situation, as does the Bay Area (for now). Heck, most large cities have a dominant NFL team (and a secondary team) which controls their local TV preferences for at least 1 time slot a week. People manage.

The NFL is thinking beyond the level of mortals like you and I. What is “lasting” in this case? The teams stay there for 20 years? 30? Stan Kroenke now has his giant stadium in the 2nd largest media market, which was his ultimate goal. I doubt the Rams will leave again in my lifetime, if ever, and if the Charges leave

I salute your willingness to sacrifice for the greater good.

Doesn’t surprise me at all. It’s a tiny stadium. The schedule comes out in April, and every Steeler/Packer/Viking etc fan in the vicinity of Southern California thinks “hey, my team will be here in October, possibly for the first time in years, let’s got to the game”.

There’s a line at the end of “North Dallas Forty” where the main character tells his coach “We’re not the team. We’re the equipment”. Basically stating the truth that the actual product and players on the field doesn’t much matter as long as the bottom line is secure, and everything else is bullshit. I think about

Does Stubhub (or whatever the call it now) even have PSLs?  I wouldn’t have thought it would have been an option since they would only be there a few years.

I suppose that’s also possible, someone could plan a weekend in LA around a visit from their favorite team. There’s probably a mix of both.

Honestly would that be worse if they somehow switched? With Trump as owner of the Chargers they would still be in San Diego. He would just stick his name on the stadium in tacky gold letters instead of Qualcomm and claim it was the best stadium despite all the evidence.  Meanwhile we’d have a milquetoast George H W

I mean, LA clearly cares about NFL football. Just not necessarily about Chargers football (or the Rams necessarily either, judging from all the red at yesterdays game). But the owners don’t care who the people sitting in the stands cheer for. They paid for tickets, parking, probably a lot of beer and stuff, and their

Maybe locally in Washington? They were barely in the preseason top 25 AP poll. They gradually moved up to #20 beating up on cupcakes (and with other teams losing), and then rightfully fell out last week after collapsing vs UCLA. They were about 6 point underdogs vs Utah.  Doesn’t seem like a ton of amazing press but

Ah yes, those pointing out why something is mean are the real meanies. Or something.

I remember reading, long ago, about it being true in at least one case. A girl playing little league was required to wear a cup, and she made news by “wearing” it wrapped around one of her legs outside her uniform as a kind of protest that still technically was within the rules. .

This is precisely the reason. I thought this was common knowledge?

Is this honestly what you think of Boris Johnson? That he’s some kind of secret genius? He was basically given by default a shit job that no one else wanted (in large part because of shitheads like himself) and now he totally sucks at it. Brown is getting paid $15 million to play for the Super Bowl favorites and will

Most yes, but that’s not saying much.  Realistically only maybe 10 teams a year have a shot to win it all.  They are certainly part of that 10 this year, but its a fools bet to take any one team against the field and assume they will win it all.

Lol. At first I thought he was apologizing because they shit the bed against the Pats and let them get another ring. Which sucks but whatever, it’s diminishing returns at this point. Then I realized what he was actually predicting.

Lol for real? So its like the world’s worst savings bond.

That’s exactly what it gets you. The “right” to buy the subsequent tickets. In theory they are transferable so you could resell them at a later date and have them appreciate in value, but that’s not always permissible or realistic. So its basically the same mentality as “buying” a timeshare.

Try living through it.
