Great advice. Dental work on a pet can leave you with real sticker shock! Right off the bat, you need to put your pet under a general anesthetic to do even a routine cleaning, and that can be a couple hundred bucks, before you even get into any actual dental work.

As far as dogs go, one thing that my wife and I do is buy high quality, organic dog food with mostly meat. We don't feed our dog anything with corn in it, he doesn't get table scraps and eats the recommended amount of food each day, which is about 1.5 cups per day for a 30lb dog.
