This is a 'merica where cops shoot to kill minorities. This 'merica is far from acceptance of transgender people. We can't even convince about half (optimistically) of the country to acknowledge that people of color are actual people, with feelings, families, dreams, etc.

Yet to me, the racists are very often those same "patriots". I have actually formed a dislike for the American flag since Bush wrapped himself in it and the right seemed to "claim" it. Or maybe it is those little flag lapel pins I saw the time I paused on Faux News by mistake...

Considering the large population of flat-out racists in the US, I cannot imagine general acceptance of transgender people is even on the radar. I am starting to believe that there are more hardcore racists than not, in America. Every incident, police killing, etc. brings them to the surface like a siren call.
