It seems pretty creepy to me, as an older woman. Just that the simmering resentment “nice guys” always experience appears to have morphed in this case into a strange form of misogyny (see this huge ring and suck it, you bitches!) instead. This piece made me quite uncomfortable.

No, it was very clear. She was the creepy dude always pining for the girl who was never interested but always still kept him around anyway, but because she’s a girl and not a guy she wasn’t labeled creepy by the object of her affection.

it’s not that she ended up with a guy she liked as a kid... it’s that she quite literally obsessed over him for years and even thinks on some level this is some “revenge” to girls that laughed at her or something. That’s pretty creepy. Lifetime movie creepy. Your story is much different, and much more normal.
