I think Caroline’s reviews have been (mostly) on point. You don’t need to be The Wire to wish Ben got more material this season so that his sacrifice would have more weight to it. That Diego’s plot concludes without him really learning anything is a fair observation. I mean, this is just...good criticism?

Their videos can get flagged if they keep quiet and just let the song play without interruption.

Yah she still sounds like an asshole.

It's really not.

Jesus Christ. Can we stop judging this work – which feels thoughtful, not over-thought, and considered, not calculated – on our assumptions about its maker? I don’t believe there’s any ‘board meetings’ here, just a woman with the talent and, yes, the contacts and resources to do whatever the fuck she wants, on her own

I’m on the record in my reviews, but I think Danger Island gets an enormous amount of mileage by foregrounding the Pam-Archer friendship. That being said, I’m excited to see the real-people versions of these people after so much time away.

In this, the year 2020, where even the most ridiculously implausible and stupid things seem to happen with frightening regularity, I will still go out on that limb and say that “Ernest Cline wrote a good book” is impossible.

What a waste of time, pawing over 17 year old footage of a guy who spends thousands of hours talking to cameras, looking for excerpts you can rake him over the coals for.  "I hear he said something EVEN WORSE in 1993!  Fuck him!  I only want people who are completely perfect!"

Shocked to see Chris D’Elia has been accused of being a comedian.

Interestingly, AV Club gave this episode of Bob and David an “A”.

And by all means, let’s school BOB ODENKIRK on how to write and perform comedy.  FFS.

I wish we were capable enough as a society to hold both the thoughts in our heads that 1) the sketch is specifically making a mockery out of the person wearing blackface and is not meant to condone the act and 2) still, maybe let’s just stop it with the blackface. It can be both. We can deal in subtlety and empathy.

The sketch used blackface knowingly as an attempt to punch up, skewering both white privilege and police brutality. There was no racial stereotyping, and people of color weren’t the butt of the joke. Its akin to Tropic Thunder, and it is 100% fine.

Remember when The AV Club would report the news, rather than tell you the specific, exact response you should have to it?

There’s a difference between racism and making fun of racism.

Ben’s the brakes.

But do they ever discuss The Lifestyle?

I was gonna say, shows that don't make money don't tend to receive three year extensions. Conan sports a very young and profitable audience for TBS and regularly releases online videos that go viral. The WJS's chicken little perspective turned out to be pretty ignorant.

Conan on TBS is such a failure that they've renewed it twice.

If the public could be turned against Jay Leno by a vicious campaign of accurately describing Jay Leno's actions, that's not Conan O'Brien's fault.
