My favorite we're the ones that said, "White people tan, its totally the same thing, but in reverse." I was like

White people. That's who's defining that as conventionally beautiful. I mean, why else is that poor Denica child selling Whitenicious to people? They go hand in hand.

Yes, yes and yes. You summarized it perfectly. Jesus give me strength.

Girl, I saw you all up and down that colorism article and I just thought to myself, "Ms. T is doing God's work." I just read so many of those replies and I was like, How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? Why do white people insist on being so ignorant? The world may never know.

Yup. Every damn time. Don't go into that Dencia post because it's infuriating. I wish there was a way to page y'all for back up.

Everytime colorism/racism is being disscussed and the words devil's advocate comes out of someone's mouth I'm just like..

I am speaking as a Black woman here...

You should probably leave that joke to Stephen Cobert. It's actually funny when he does it.

She's also one of the darker black actresses that I've seen, usually famous black women are on the lighter side.

Exactly.

You have every right to believe that she is conventionally attractive, but you can't apply your view to the rest of society, who says that unattractiveness is the default for black women, with the exception of some who are beautiful.

How can you read this article and then question whether she's "pushing boundaries"? Pay attention. How many women who look similar to Lupita do you see in fashion magazines? How often do you see women who similar to her achieve the amount of success she has? It's extremely rare, so yes, she IS pushing boundaries.

Not when you caveat that with "I was just SAYING! Geez!"

I've said this before, but my 2 year old was sitting in my lap, saw a pic of Lupita on a Jez story, smiled and went "oooh!" Then she pointed at herself.

I have nothing really to add.

You really ought to trademark that thought — you just never know, you know? — since *getting Kanye-plative* would be a perfect term for times when houseguests need to be alone with their thoughts about their host. It would sure beat a damp grotto, possibly a golf-cart drive away.

Yes, Dodai. Just yes.

Absolutely, for those moments you're feeling quiet and Kanye-plative.

Probably a few shrines, too, in the quieter — more reflection-conducive — areas of the house.

Pretty sure Samiwert just ripped off this idea.
Kayne West has had pictures of Kanye West all over his house for YEARS.
