The theme to Good Times was solid, even when the show disintegrated into merely a showcase of Jimmy Walker’s questionable comedic talents.

You also need to add that when the shooter is a white, male that he always without fail have “mental health” issues. And the NRA followers will argue that the issue is there and not with the fact that he had easy access to a semi-automatic weapon.

Listened to Gary Numan’s “Savage” again and made Zwetschgendatschi mit Mohn (a plum tart with crumble on top). I’m going to spend the evening watching TCM “Dracula” and other vampire movies to start off October’s monster fest.

While Tim “Herb” Alexander and Les have had their creative differences, its good to see Tim back playing with Primus. Tim is one of the few drummers I could just sit and listen to solo; he’s a bit underrated. I used to read the book that this album is based upon to my kids, it will be interesting to see the Claypool

And probably explains why its one of the worst translations ever done.

Without question, the worst flight I have ever had coming back from Germany was on Icelandair. Horrible food and no leg room to speak of if you were stuck in coach class. The thought of adding the Icelandic version of interactive theater just strengthens my vow to never, ever fly Icelandair again.

Buying Morrissey tickets is the concert goer’s version of playing Three Card Monty.

This was the war that pretty much defined my childhood—I remember when it ended in ‘75, and watching the airlifts out of Saigon on the TV. My brother did two tours of duty in Vietnam as a marine, and came back with PTSD and more issues than any of us realized. The war, along with losing my dad in ‘67 when I was 5,

My mother bought Studs Terkel’s Working when it came out; he was one of her favorite writers. I read it during a summer break in high school—it was powerful even to my 16 year old mind. I need to go back and revisit it soon.

I recently found my old International Economics course book in the free book rack at a work. I would fear cracking open the tome; I would probably go instantly to sleep.

The review on “Running with the Devil” describes in a short paragraph most of the reasons why I cannot stand Van Halen to this day. (Or most of the hair bands of the 1980s).

He had a face that can only be described as “lived in”. Wonderful actor, who could express world weary better than anyone else. RIP

I married a Zappa fan of epic proportions, and I found Beefheart’s albums a bit much to listen to at first (and some of Frank Z’s as well). Beefheart does tend to grow on you over time. I like Trout Mask Replica, but I like “The Spotlight Kid” better.

Funk/Disco of the 1970s. I was pretty much a “Disco sucks” teen back in my high school years, but after I started playing bass seriously, I realized how narrow minded I had been and it opened up my ears to a whole genre for which I had been horribly dismissive

So that makes three of us.

As a college DJ in the early 80s, Hüsker Dü was a staple. The past few years have felt like little piece of my 20s are slowing peeling off and drifting away, starting with Mr. Bowie

ooh Köstritzer. One of those beers that came out of East Germany and was really tasty. I need to get back to Berlin. Soon.

When we were in München this summer, we made a point of hitting all the major “Oktoberfest” breweries. I tend to like the beer that isn’t featured in the festival. ( Märzen is not my favorite beer anyway.)  Best food (at least for a vegetarian) was at Hacker-Pschorr’s restaurant off of the Viktualienmarkt, best beer
