While Tim “Herb” Alexander and Les have had their creative differences, its good to see Tim back playing with Primus. Without question, the worst flight I have ever had coming back from Germany was on Icelandair. Horrible food and no leg room to speak of if you were stuck in coach class. The thought of adding the Icelandic version of interactive theater just strengthens my vow to never, ever fly Icelandair again.

My mother bought Studs Terkel’s Working when it came out; he was one of her favorite writers. I read it during a summer break in high school—it was powerful even to my 16 year old mind. I need to go back and revisit it soon.

I recently found my old International Economics course book in the free book rack at a work. I would fear cracking open the tome; I would probably go instantly to sleep.

The review on “Running with the Devil” describes in a short paragraph most of the reasons why I cannot stand Van Halen to this day. (Or most of the hair bands of the 1980s).

I married a Zappa fan of epic proportions, and I found Beefheart’s albums a bit much to listen to at first (and some of Frank Z’s as well). Beefheart does tend to grow on you over time. I like Trout Mask Replica, but I like “The Spotlight Kid” better.

Funk/Disco of the 1970s. I was pretty much a “Disco sucks” teen back in my high school years, but after I started playing bass seriously, I realized how narrow minded I had been and it opened up my ears to a whole genre for which I had been horribly dismissive
