This happened to me in high school. I was a huge history nerd who went on to earn my University degree in history. I remember multiple times reading things in the textbooks in high school and saying, “ummm this was disproved like, 5 years ago.” But I knew to fake it for the test grade. 

I dated a military recruit for a year when I was much younger. Looking back now, he should have been in a long term mental health facility instead of being trained for combat. They seriously need to start paying the armed forces better, but expect better too.
